I like Kirk but this is BS clickbait. The prohibitions he's talking about are already existing in current CHP law and aren't anything new. GRNC thinks they can get it to the Governors desk, I don't know if we have the numbers to override a veto. But here's hoping. |

I watched the video and for the 1st time ever I felt like replying exactly this. |

Originally Posted By jkeith: You are correct about the House. It did pass in the Senate on March 20 No it didn't as there is no sister bill of H5 in the senate. However there is a different bill in the senate SB50 that has passed and was sent to the house. The house could take SB50 and passed it as is and send it to the Gov. to be signed but if they make any changes to the bill it will have to go to conference for both houses to work out the differences In order for Constitutional carry to pass the house needs to take up and pass SB50 or they need to pass HB 5 and it be taken up and passed by the senate. |

Tomorrow, June 3, at 1:00p.m. the House Judiciary 2 Committee will hold a public hearing on S50, the Freedom to Carry NC. I already sent emails this morning. I'll try and make some phone calls later. https://www.wral.com/story/concealed-carry-repeal-to-be-heard-in-nc-house/22035939/ |

Senate Bill 50 ("Freedom to Carry NC") has passed the J2 House Committee in a 6-5 Vote today. The bill now moves on the House Rules Committee for a hearing and vote. This vote is anticipated this week, likely Thursday June 5th. Just sent emails to the House Committee members. |

| Can't put this on Stein...you fell for Berger's con. Face it, he and the Republicans only brought this forward this year because they knew the governor would veto it and that they would no longer have enough votes to override. Makes them appear to support the 2nd Amendment when in reality they don't. They could have easily gotten this through last year when they had the supermajority but Berger decided they had done enough by getting rid of the pistol purchase permit. Wake up folks, people like Berger are conning you for votes. |

After dealing with the public in a firearms store for several years now, I cant get on board with this bill. I like the baseline of Knowledge/skill that the CCW class at least offers. It is minimal but something. You want to open carry at age 21, go for it. A 18 yr old GenZ or a dipshit 60 year old CCW without any knowledge of handgun use, safety and self defense law is asking for trouble. I too think this is a “virtue signaling” bill they know will be vetoed and not overridden. |

Good to see you think it as a privilege and not a right. |

I think ownership is a RIGHT, and a privilege of being a citizen of the best country in the world; but it carries responsibilities many ignore, such as safe gun handling and knowing you cant kill someone just because they yell at you or piss you off and you claim self defense. We dont have kings and laws can not regulate stupid or criminal behavior. Currently under the NCCCW law it is illegal to use alcohol or drugs and carry CCW…will this provision be included with the proposed law? Should it be?..it’s a right you know… |

Should it be?..it’s a right you know… Ownership and carry are the components of the right-keep and bear- the government lacks the legitimate authority to place limitations or requirements on it. The doomsday predictions of blood in the streets never materialized in the over 50% of states that have legalized it, and they won't materialize here. I don't think training is a bad idea for those without it, but mandating it is a bad idea, because it is an abuse. |

Now let me ask a question. Why are criminals more free over laws then the law abiding? You would have use ask permission, criminals don't and carry anyway. We all know we have responsibilities when carrying but you cannot deny rights to the old and infirm either. |

Never blackpill. Nobody blackpill. It looked pretty bleak before we overrode the veto for the pistol purchase permit under Cooper, but we did it. Remember it's not just a matter of how many Aye votes we can muster, it's also about how many Nays we can convince to not show up that day. |
| That was Berger's plan all along. Now that he no longer has a supermajority he won't be able to override the veto so he gets to fool people into thinking he supports 2nd Amendment without having to actually support it. Could have easily done this in the last session when he had the supermajority but didn't. |
| I'm now reading that the Senate Repubs are planning to override Stein's veto...is this legit? |
|
Not sure...what I see being reported is that there was an override of his veto on allowing teachers in private schools to carry concealed. On constitutional carry, the Senate voted for the override but I don't see that the House did. Might be missing something, but that is what I'm seeing. |
| Senate overcame the veto, but it did not pass the house. The house didn't even bring it to the floor. SB50 is the bill. With 2 republican holdouts, they would need 3 democrats to side with them assuming all other house republicans were present and voted in favor. |
