| Looks like I’m moving to OKC this spring. Anything words of wisdom to pass? I have a child in elementary school so I’ll be looking for a good school district. |

We're open carry state, so you'll see someone with a gun on their hip near everywhere. The okc metro covers a large area & towns/cities. Get a map and look at approx 30 mile radius of downtown. Mostly great people that will help with near anything, a few not good; but like everywhere in oklahoma, if you fuck with the good or bad people, you will get fucked, grudges no matter how big or small last lifetimes here. iirc news9, kfor, koco & okcfox have a crime tracker on their sites. Football is king here, from grade school to college ball, then comes all the other sports. Lots more great stuff here, but the cost of living is going up here. |

OKC is the seventh largest (by square mileage) metro in the US. There are many areas to choose from. I live in the far southwest metro and there are plenty of good schools in the tricities area. Moore/Norman are also great as are Piedmont and Edmond. Don't limit yourself to the city schools. In fact, I'd specifically avoid OKCPS and the east metro areas. Mustang/Yukon are also very good districts but with higher property costs. The best bang for your buck is still where I'm at in semi-rural McClain/Cleveland/Grady counties. |
