| My wife, Son and I are finally moving to Hanover in York County in 2 weeks. We have been wanting to be close to family in Gettysburg and we have a place in Pike County in the Poconos. We are moving from central Virginia and tired of the 7 hours drives to NEPA and anytime i need to help pop with the tractor or mowing deck, it becomes scheduled due to our drive or our work schedules. Not any more! I am hoping PA does not fall like Virginia has when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. Already found me a lake to fish, So I need to find some Cigar Bars and ranges. |

Welcome, you sound like good people. I assume if you're on the York county side of Hanover, hopefully actually be a physical neighbor in the rural Pigeon Hills/Heidelberg and not that little Nazi HOA land in Penn Township. It's quiet on the York side, its a good place, it physically has everything you'll ever need within a reasonable distance. Lots of good gun shops (Gun Bunker in Shrewsbury is great). Plus you're close to Lancaster, we provision with the Amish all the time. Not going to pull any punches though, for us it's over growing both for Adams and York with far too much MD influence to my liking over the past few years. I had an 1850's farm about 2 miles from Little Round Top for around 15 years and now deep in the hills in York. Biggest problem overall though (and I don't mean to put any negatives to you), is be ready to have to "fight city hall" over millage and school tax depending which township/district you are in. It's just too much, over 13K a year now being extorted just in school. I'm done fighting so, we've got a 60 acre tract deep in absolute nowhere WV where we're just doing our own thing. God willing this will be our last full year in PA. But, I'm winding my career down so don't have the same needs anymore. Good luck to you! |

Thank You. We will be in Hanover and already looking into things. I am shocked at how much cheaper a Concealed Carry Permit is down here. We also have property up in Pike County so I understand about the School tax. My FIL lives in Gettysburg and he and I have been talking for years about the school tax. Down here in Virginia, we have a car tax where I pay taxes on our vehicles twice a year that i paid tax on when i purchased it with money I made that has already been taxed. WV sounds promising. As of late, I know many Virginians are looking there. Good Luck with it. |

The LTCF issuance place is in the lobby of their satellite office off 30, heading towards Lancaster. Walk in, they snap your picture and they pop out the LTCF card right away. Actually easier in York than Adams County (find parking, go into courthouse, go through security). But just remember, there is no reciprocity with the Democratic Peoples Republic of Maryland. God knows how many times I end up in MD, with a piece in the center console without even thinking about it. Only saving grace is Carroll County is pretty much only MD by happenstance. But once you hit Balto county and such... they'll hang your ass to dry. There is also a story and it might be Urban Legend, that potentially MDSP got a list somehow of of PA border county LTCF holders. Further that those cars were being tagged for stops. It never happened to me, and I worked in/commuted to Carroll for years. However one of my employees was asked a strange line of questions when he got a traffic stop by MDSP by Owings Mills |

Also and btw on the Firearms side, Littlestown Fish and Game is a great club/range to shoot at. Highly recommended. Right past Kennies https://lfag.wildapricot.org/ I only stopped being a member after I bought my WV lands/built our other house there and just shoot there now. No .50bmg though but, they never took exception when I brought my .30 belt fed. Although it now says no full auto? Remember both Adams and York are very NFA friendly. Only real pain I have now in the NFA realm, is the 5320.20 when I'm "transporting" between WV and PA. But ATF will allow a 1 year "blanket" 5320.20 form. I overall wouldn't necessarily give a shit but, I have to go through MD on the trip. Stay away from the State Ranges, its not worth the hassle. Both Carlisle and Dover, just hit every negative range stereotype. DCNR hides in the woods and counts your rounds (God forbid if you fire more than 3 Rifle, 6 Pistol). Crusty Brass Roaches are trying to glom up your spent brass the second it hits the ground, it is beyond toxic during Fudd season and good luck getting a bench. The "SG's" are primarily clown shows. If you dig indoor, Freedom Armory in Glen Rock is also good (albeit a little pricey). They've got a good pistol upstairs and rifle range downstairs. |

Awesome and thanks for the info. Yeah, I avoid Maryland as much as I can. Even with all the crap going on back home in Virginia, the Reciprocity still good to go with PA, but that's a matter of time Virginia will yank it too. I heard that same story where Maryland runs your plate and they know if you have a Conceal Carry Permit. |

Thank You. Been here a week and a half and still trying to get things situated. Wrapping up on my drivers license/ Real ID tomorrow and then going to work on my LTC next week as I fully expect Virginia to fuck around and lose my reciprocity to carry here. The wife has been delayed due to her thinking she had her birth certificate but it was the registration notice, ha ha. Overall, not bad. However, one thing I have found out transferring tags and titles is a major clusterfuck in this state😅 |

Here, I visit the DMV for the license and then deal with multiple authorized vendors i can use to tag and title it. Now since I bought a vehicle within 6 months, I have to pay the tax all over again unless I have legal documents. So I have been going back to VA and jumping through hoops to accomplish the legal forms and still have to wait 2 to 8 weeks. |

Honestly the LTC permit has been the easiest to deal with. I am impressed with how fast it was. I applied online last night and paid the fee and this morning was told to come pick it up. So I made an appt for Monday. Sure beats waiting 45 days in Virginia( every time it has been that long) and the price is double for the permit in Virginia. Just waiting on my title to arrive and then finish up with my vehicle but the wife is still waiting on her paperwork. |
