Hello everyone! It's that time of the year again! "No man's wallet or liberty is safe while the legislature is in session. I have been working with a few friends these past few years in reviewing all of the bills submitted for consideration by the legislature. Every year, hundreds of bills are submitted. Relatively few come up to be voted on. Please find some of the more relevant bills below. HB78 - Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms (PLCAA) Clarification Act of 2026 - establish liability protections for manufacturers and sellers of firearms, sue people for violating the extended protections to manufacturers and give AG enforcement powers. HB79 - related to taxes and firearms/ammunition/body armor/suppressors. Seems like a good bill. HB80 - lots of good stuff to prevent anti-gun work-arounds if Federal gun laws are repealed or struck down. Specifically: can sue against a person or organization that violates the prohibitions; waive sovereign, governmental, and qualified immunity; provide penalties for any person who violates the prohibition on enforcing a repealed or unconstitutional federal firearm restriction; HB116 - California style gun control HB125 - domestic violence and firearms. Mimics Federal law on prohibiting those with dv protective orders against them from possessing firearms. Checked the bills identified personally. I think these bills were filed on Thursday night. I'm pretty sure most will end up on the alert. The democrat reps file some bad bills every year, same bills every year. With the legislature makeup, there is no chance of them passing. We don't include them for that reason. There's also several "Medicaid is a constitutional right" and "free tampons for everyone who wants them" every year from that side of the aisle. Almost ever democrat reps files then, so they can virtue signal to their base, "Look at me! I'm doing something!" If we see a Republican filing this sort of bills, then we will absolutely add them to the alert. |
