Relocated down here for a family member job and I've noticed several differences compared to the Miami area where we lived for about 4 years and OKC previous to that. For 1 there's LEO just about hiding under every rock whereas in Ottawa County there was almost no discernable police presence outside City limits, here there's numerous speed traps. The grocer food items in both quality, variety and prices are also noticeably worse which doesn't make much sense since the proximity to I40 makes it feel less remote than being in the middle of nowhere with only Toll44 as an outside link. I haven't been able to find a local FFL yet that does transfers and gunsmithing work. All of my inquiries about shooting ranges is that they're all shutdown/gone incognito leaving only the dirt road NF range past Hodgen. We had a Harps in Miami too but the one in Poteau suuuuucks, the Bob Evans Mac and cheese we got last time tasted like factory seconds

That's good old rural Oklahoma. Work I've done put me all over the state, most of rural & semi rural areas got local pd that posts up in school zones, shitloads of county deputies all over in town & county, some ohp & state agency here&there. even see the fed marshall in truck pulling a horse trailer w/a horse & atv out investigating cattle rustling. As with most rural towns, they'll be a small to medium size grocery store, dollar general, a cafe, a hardware/co-op, a mechanic, mom/pop gas stations with a hot grill/deli, and some of slightly larger will have a autozone or oreillys, fastfood joints & walmart. As for gun ranges in se, only one I can think of is the one by talamina/ muse area, can't recall if it was just a local or wma range. Down in the weyerhaeuser area I think most shoot wherever they find a spot, least when I've deer hunted bit north of idabel seemed that way since some of the firebreak ponds had shitloads of hulls, brass & shot up signs around them, Hell one of the ponds a truck nose in with tailgate approx 1' under surface.. |
