| So I am still waiting for my CCW permit to be approved. I was told yesterday that they are still waiting for the background check (fingerprints specifically) to come back from FBI. I submitted this on the 2/3/25. This is ridiculous that they are allowed to keep me waiting indefinitely apparently. Wanting to see what legal options there are to get the state to get there stuff together and not have this process drag on forever. The fact we have no recourse except to wait is crazy. Also I can’t carry in the mean time… an it isn’t like the state is exactly a safe place. |

Can't help on the lawyer front, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were slow rolling them these days. I got mine before they got public on trying to make gun owners criminals for just carrying legally. I carried openly in ABQ occasionally before I had my CCW, and only had one guy comment, and it was a question about the gun, not a negative response. Though from what I remember, an unloaded gun doesn't count as a concealed weapon. So theoretically you could carry a pocket gun unloaded, and the magazine in another pocket. |
| Well I had reached out to NM Shooting sports association. They clued me in on what the hold up is. Apparently I’m not the only one and the reason is fucking ridiculous. The part that makes it beyond stupid is that instead of them telling me why they are still waiting, the leave it at we are just waiting on fbi…. |

Know if the holdup is for new licenses, or is it all across the board? And all you are told is the delay is on the FBI? |

| Sorry fellas for the lack of update. New Mexico Shooting Sports association was who I reached out too. They were helpful in the fact that they had been made aware and were in contact with the state and exploring options. The info I was given was the state was in a dispute with the fbi about storing the fingerprints or some such stuff. Then I was updated that they would start processing soon but there was a backlog. I received notice from the state a few days later (on Good Friday) that my permit was approved. It affected renewals as those are the prints already on file. It’s BS cause truthfully the state could have just said that was the issue. I would have re fingerprinted just to not had to wait. |
