In the local news recently. A LEO stopped a woman for running a stop sign. As he approached the car, her "emotional support dog" (a Pitbull), jumped out the window and tried to attack the officer. No vest or training. I think it was just a plain Pit Bull, which is favored by some more than others. To me, they are very unpredictable. About a year ago, I got home from work, parked my truck in the yard, went to the backyard fence, and had just closed the gate. Suddenly, a Pit Bull appeared seemingly from nowhere, hit the gate, growling / snapping at me. Luckily the gate was clasped. I carry a J-frame in my pocket, and was about to pull it out if the dog got on the gate and try to cross it. Then a teenager that I had never seen before called from the street to the dog, and it left and went to him. I hollered that it should be on a leash, because I know the city has a leash law. I never presented the J-frame, so the kid didn't realize that I would have shot the dog if it had crossed over the fence. He gave me a  look when I hollered about the leash law.I haven't seen him or the dog since, but I don't go outside in my yard, fenced or not, without something on me. |
