At my parents house in PA, we learned about a local kids shooting team at the highschool. (Everett PA). My 10 soon to be 11 year old daughter heard us talking about it and would like to join something like that in WV. Very proud dad is a understatement. We are in Berkeley county, and other than a ton of ranges and clubs, I can't find anything other than WVU shooting team, and maybe 4H. Anyone know any clubs in the area that do this type of shooting or training? NRA has some competitions listed but they are all in the Harrisburg PA area and Norfolk. Being the closest. It's looking like I might have to look at starting a club. |

If you feel like making the drive... Our first Smallbore Metallic Silhouette Match of the year is this Sunday, April 19th, and will be an Introduction to Metallic Silhouette so match fees are waived for Club Members and their children. Please respond to this email if you plan to attend or if you wish to be removed from the list. Also, please share it with anyone who'd like to join us. This is a fun match not sanctioned by the NRA so you can bring any .22 rifle of your choice (Target Scope recommended). If you are a member of the club, you can sight in on the 1:5 scale swinger targets and practice at any time. You'll have to bring a can of white paint to touch them up since they are remaining in place during the month. If you aren't a club member, zero your rifle at 40 Meters / 44 Yards which is the distance to the Chickens. Pigs are at 60 Meters / 66 Yards, Turkeys at 77 Meters / 84 Yards, and the Rams at 100 Yards instead of 100 Meters since our berm is set at 100 Yards. Start of registration and practice is 12:30 PM. There will be a safety briefing at 1pm, with the start of the match to follow immediately thereafter. Cost of the match is $5 for adults as well as for juniors unless you are a Club Member or their child. The match consists of 40 targets, 10 of each animal, and is open to non-members. You’ll need to bring Standard Velocity .22 ammo (1,100 fps or less), eye and ear protection, and a chamber flag (we have some available if you don't have one). As always eye and ear protection are mandatory. Spectators are welcome. Everyone will be required to sign a waiver for 2026 if you have not already done so. I will have some ammo on hand for purchase. The market price for a box of 50 will be charged since costs are fluctuating. (Limit of 2 boxes per shooter) As with all matches, the range will be closed to any other activities from 11 AM until the match is concluded, all equipment is returned to storage, and the Match Director gives the all clear to resume normal activities.
