Was watching Runkle of the Bailey and he said he'd put a list under his video - and forgot. Did the SKS survive? Garand? Are there any semi-auto rifles y'all get to keep? Hope your Conservatives win & reverse all this. SKS is still good - most likely till February. there is another list of 150 coming. the smugness is disgusting when they do the news pressers. make no mistake, this is NOT about public safety, it is 100% about total civilian disarmament. Mark |

Originally Posted By backbencher: If Trudeau gets forced out, will the incoming Conservatives reverse the ban? that's one of the things he is promising, but history may say otherwise. the question will be does he reverse ALL of it or parts of it. so the ban(s) fall into 3 possibly 4 groups - depending on what happens in the next few months. first a definition to assist: An Order in Council (OIC) is a legal instrument in Canada that is used to make, amend, or repeal regulations, or to address administrative and legislative matters. it is NOT subject to parliament voting on it. they governing party can use it to their will. - OIC 2020- this banned 1500+ types of guns - AR-15's, Large caliber rifle with over 10000 Joules of muzzle energy, et al - Handgun transfer ban - they made a law that bans the transfer of handgun and requires more stringent importation rules to get a handgun into canada. permits were always required to bring them into country. the new part is the transfer ban. so if you own it, its your for life. no getting new ones, no getting rid of your existing. you can still use it, but it stays with you. there are 2-3 exceptions. 1 - you require it to protect life - VERY VERY Rare. probably 1-2 dozen in all of canada. 2 - you have it deactivated (basically welded shut so it will never fire and becomes a paperweight) 3 - you turn it in for destruction or export it. - OIC add on 2024 - 34-+ more guns added to the 2020 OIC. - FEB 2025 - proposed - 150 more guns being added to the 2020 OIC list. so the $64,000 question is - will all those bans be undone or some. the UN has a clause in their charter for total civilian disarmament. Canada has bought into that 100%. lets get real, an unarmed populace is easier to control compared to an armed one. you folks know it well as it was written into your constitution. historically in canada, one government kicks the disarmament down the road, then when the populace gets fed up with their shenanigans, the next government reals it back - slightly - but never back to where it was before, then this repeats over and over. I have seen this happen since 1985 when I got into shooting. for gun owners its a roller coaster/death by a thousand cuts scenario. so whatever government gets in, they will change things, but they will last maybe 1-2 terms and in 4-8 years, the ride begins again. if it was about public safety, then they would deal with criminals appropriately in other legislation, but that fails miserably.
