Considering a trip to Jackson Hole in September. Looking for recommendations on upscale hotels/lodging and the standard what to do and where to eat. Yellowstone and Grand Teton would be on my list of course. Guided fishing/hunting possibly. Cost is a non-issue. |

| We stayed a night at the 49er Hotel in October of '22. The room was fine, and the breakfast buffet hit the spot. The BBQ joint across the way was well worth the saunter over. |

There's a polish restaurant in Jackson that is good, million dollar saloon is a good spot to check off. It's Jackson so everything is expensive... |

"Cost is a non-issue" Stay at the Amangani. See the concierge for any and all summer activities. Hire The Driver Provider for front door service to most everything. Get some billionaire western bling at Kemo Sabe Head over to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for a cocktail, dancing, and gramming from the bar stool saddles (wearing your Kemo Sabe haul of course). Hit up Snake River Grill for fine dining. Head out to Teton Village and ride the Tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain. Have fun. This is in not a paid endorsement for any of these recomendations. |

Good ones. Thank you. I had looked into Aman or Amangani previously. I despise posers so I'll pass on Kemo Sabe. Although I grew up riding quarters and walkers, a cowboy I am not. |

OP The Local for food. There's a place over in Wilson that's supposed to be pretty good, but I can't remember the name. It may have closed during covid. The Wort is downtown, easy walking everywhere in town square. |

Just got back from my trip to Jackson Hole and wow, what a beautiful state you folks have! Nothing in Georgia compares to the scale of nature here. We had a great time and was able to check off some bucket list items. Brief Recap: Day 1 - Arrived mid day and just explored around Jackson. We stayed at Hotel Terra in Teton Village. Nice place and not crowded. Day 2 - Bucket list #1 - Headed out early to Yellowstone and straight to Old Faithful. Spent a while exploring the geyser area and taking photos. Waited on Old Faithful to erupt and headed over to Grand Prismatic. We wanted to go to the "Grand Canyon of Yellowstone" but ran out of time. It was another hour and half drive and then a 3 hour drive back.  Day 3 - Bucket list #2 - HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE! This was my 50th birthday and what a way to start it! We lifted off near Teton Village and flew in roughly a 3 square mile area near Snake River Ranch. It was an amazing experience for me personally. Saw 5 elk as soon as we lifted off. Several Bald Eagles, coyotes, and horses in the pasture. Ended day 3 by heading up the Tram in Teton Village and cruising around the area for wildlife, etc. The views were next level:    Day 4 - We explored the Jenny Lake area, took the ferry over to Cascade Canyon and hiked into the canyon. Again, the views and scale was on another level than anything I've experienced:   Overall it was a fantastic trip. A couple things I wasn't expecting, One, the drive time. I had looked at the distances and knew we had a decent drive most places but, I didn't factor in the crowds and speed at which folks drive. It makes sense, everyone is looking for bears, elk, moose, etc. and that adds to the time. No biggie, we took it in stride but, I know now why you need 3-4 days to fully experience Yellowstone. The second thing I just mentioned...the crowds. September is advertised as the low or shoulder season and if that's the case I'd hate to see it in Summer. No matter where we went it was crowded. I took the advice from here and other places and left EARLY for everything. For those thinking of going...if you aren't driving before sunrise you're late. We left from Teton Village going to Jackson for dinner on the first night and gave ourselves 45 minutes for a 15 minute drive. We were late to the restaurant. Thanks everyone for the insight and ideas. I'll be back another day! |

Nice! We went this past weekend. Drove up Thursday night, found some dispersed camping. Friday morning hit The Bunnery for breakfast, wandered around town, then drove up to Jackson Lake for paddleboarding. Dinner in town at The Local, and I had a surprise 1-hr phone call with a company I'm applying at. Saturday we got up early, got to Jenny Lake at 8:30am and hiked to the same canyon and a little beyond. We heard rock climbers, but couldn't spot them. Took the ferry back. 8.5mi, iirc. Took scenic way back, looking for animals. Town for dinner at Teton Wood-fire Pizza. Drove up to Yellowstone to Grant Village, again looking for animals. We saw no moose, few bison and deer, no bighorn sheep, no elk. And no bears. Somewhat disappointing. The one animal I did get to check off the list was a flying squirrel. There were about 50 vehicles parked just south of Coulter Bay, stalking a mama griz and her cubs. Apparently she crossed the road the previous 2 nights, they were hoping for a 3rd. Unfortunately, the nearby fire was blowing smoke into the Teton valley, which really ruined good pictures. Colors were amazing. Crowds were a little less than summer this weekend, likely because of the fall colors, fishing, and lack of family vacations. Oh, and the NPS had free access for "support our public lands" day. |
