[Last Edit: Ben]
Would there be interest in a course that ran ten consecutive days and resulted in a full Pioneer rating?
There would be very minimal prerequisites, though candidates would need to study and prep for the course. Could you find ten days to work with professional instructors to go from candidate to Pioneer? The course would include ammunition and other necessary consumables. |

We'd need a minimum of 14 students. That number may adjust up or down prior to, but should be in the ballpark.

Depending on how its scheduled, I could probably make it work.
Biggest consideration for me is location. ETA: Certainly interested. |
|
|
I'd be interested.
Only concern would be if I had internet access or not. |
|
No one is coming. It's up to us.

Interested as well. Although depending on timing I may need potentially a few hours of internet access to make it more feasible on my end.

Definity interested but probably couldn't sneak away for that long unless it was during my off season.

Interested. It would have to be during the winter for me to be able to attend.

Ability to attend...unknown. |

Definitely interested, but need to ensure the dates do not conflict with mil drill dates or other scheduled work issues.

Interested according to the location.
problem for me is pilot ground school, upcoming Germany trip, mom breaking her leg or getting sick right before A event (happens every time). Like clockwork a week before boat training she broke her leg and is in rehab. Luckily I have help for a day or two, just not much more. |

Also interested.
Especially considering I can't find anyone near me to work through the handbook... |

I’m interested but since my work schedule has prevented me from even attending the 1 day events so far, it doesn’t look too promising for 10 days. At least not for the next couple of years.

Sadly not likely feasible.
Especially if I blow my load on a week of 1shepherd |

I would be in, and can work around the schedule depending on lead time.
My brother would most likely be interested too Has there been a location or some sort of timing/dates discussed? I scanned through the thread, and didn't see anything obvious I'm in TX, seems there are several people interested in APC in and around North Texas, so this may give us the push<SHOVE needed to get it done |

Such a course requires significant commitment from APC in terms of resources, instructor support, and good will. I say good will since the instructors are not paid, and would probably need to be there 16 to 20 days vice the ten the students are there...so families aren't going to be happy about it. This idea isn't dead by any means, we just need to make sure we've built up enough interest for a course of such length as to make it a success. |

Appreciate the response and the commitment requirements, all around. More I read about this, more I get on board. I will most likely round up a crew of guys to kick off the DFW/North Texas chapter again. Like I posted earlier, my brother will 100% be on board too, but he's in Houston, or just south, so not super easy to get something like this going... On a regular basis with a 4-5hr drive time involved. Maybe we can get him plugged in to the local chapter there. |

I think if you attached a price of $500-750 to cover costs and some reimbursement for instructors, you would fill the slots and some of your logistical gaps. |

I would be interested. 10 Days might be to long to be away for.
Location also is a consideration. Any updates on planning? |

I'd be interested, although location and my schedule definitely would dictate ability to participate. Unfortunately, the bigger events seem to be in locations not too friendly to west-coasters or southwesterners. I'm also sailing most of the year. But if the details align, I'd definitely want to attend. It's probably the only way I can get Pioneer as I was never able to get enough interest in Southern CA and once I got my current job I really couldn't organize much of anything as I'm not home very often and can't reliably predict my work schedule. If more people had been interested and in a position to take the lead it might be a different story.

Being retired has certain benefits, such as do what I want when I want. The only problem with that is that I'm usually doing all kinds of shit all over the western US. So for me it would time and location dependant. Probably not willing to go to the east coast for this either. Only thing currently on my books for 2024 is spend 2 weeks hiking Iceland in the later part of August to possibly mid September.
