Pre covid I would go to the larger eagle arms shows (oaks, split rock, Bloomsburg). I figured i might swing in to split rock show for shits and giggles. Was at a shop last weekend and had discussion with the owner. He said the shows are not what the used to be. Said split rock is half the size it was. He also said its part flea market type of vendors. Any truth to this? |

Honestly, the mix of things varies from show to show. I think back 30yrs ago, the Valley Forge Show was huge and really nothing but guns, ammo, and shooting related. There weren't any pickle sales or jewelry, just guns and not like the flood of AR15s and the junkie accessories that go with them. Shows will never be like it used to be. I can get through the Oaks show very quickly due to the fact that I am not there to make an AR fancy or buy a tee shirt. Those tables will be skipped. With that being said, I do like to run into acquaintances and dealers that I haven't seen in a while to share stories and opinions and the reason we are at the show, for the love of firearms. The days of running to your vehicle to drop off your haul and then running back into the show for more, are over. If you are local to a show and have the time, then go. I'm not driving 2+hrs to Harrisburg or York PA just to take a walk around a couple hundred tables. For me, it's better to shop on the world wide web and have it delivered right to my home or local FFL for transfer. Gun show bargains are nearly impossible to find anymore. |

True, shows are not what they used to be. The 3 shows I refer to are from 1.25hr to 2.5hr drive. I liked going to them just to get out and also look for a deal or two. I have purchased many older guns at better prices then my local ffl. Part of the fun was the haggling and buying on the spot. |

Yes! hunting down a bargain or something you didn't even know that you just couldn't live without and the experience of instant gratification by taking it home that day is always a great feeling!!! |
