I think that the counties will take the occasian to wave the green flag to development and data centers. They will blame We The People for their revenue loss....if there is one or not. Since the media is making a fuss about potential "lost revenue" at the county level, this will be the excuse to ruin the beauty of what's left of our state. I can hear it already.....'If the public didn't vote to take our revenue away, all this development wouldn't have been necessary." |
| If the county governments hadn't used the spike in property values to azzrape property owners, the amendment probably would have never come up. Some counties may try to sell out to AI datacenter projects but that doesn't mean they'll be able to do it and from an IT perspective, Florida is far less than an ideal place to build datacenters. As a consultant in the industry for years, I recommended to more than one client to move their main datacenters elsewhere. Some listened. Some didn't and paid the price with underwater servers, bad service delivery and exorbitant construction and operational costs. Building a datacenter in a flood prone state that has severe weather on a regular basis is not a smart move not to mention all the other challenges involving power and communications that would make an AI centric datacenter in most of the state an unreliable AI service. Datacenters don't do well here. Ask Verizon, HSN and Neilson about the challenges they've had not to mention the staggering costs needed to manage those challenges compared to other places like say, the Midwest states. |

| Im sure every local taxing jurisdiction in the state is preparing a "max pain" plan to punish the public if the amendment passes. At least the cost for trash pickup, for the most of us, has been transferred to the homeowner. At least they can't pull that one on us. |

| Yesterday, I was at the county tax office to renew my vehicle registrations. The clerk told me to get the 2-year renewals. The scuttlebutt is that if the property tax drops, the vehicle license prices will go up significantly. Made sense so I went ahead and paid for the 2-year renewals. |

I expect to hear a lot of FUD coming from those associated with local .gov that directly or indirectly benefit from property taxes. This includes the liberal press. There's a lot less voters on the receiving end than those of us on the paying end, but I'd expect those receiving to get very loud and blusterous to make it seem like they are the majority. Hopefully we'll get enough of us on the paying end to go vote for this. |

Im trying to find the language used that will appear on the ballot so far. I do realize that there are at least two lawsuits filed already to change the language. I went to the state .gov website but I can't find the language. Maybe im bad at navigating or there is no published ballot language yet? |
