No, not loaded ammo, a box of Hornaday 9mm 115gr XTP slugs for reloading, nothing but copper and lead in a box. And CAL Ranch insisted on ID. Are gangbagers buying these to launch with wrist rockets? Good thing I didn't try to buy pet supplies, might have wanted to see my Veterinary license. Scheels, here I come. |

Federal law and company policy require customers to be 21 to buy handgun ammunition. The CAL Ranch computer system requires a birthdate input for any ammunition transaction and the register won't allow the sale if the customer is under age. Generally, you're only going to get carded if you look young or if the employee is new. Meaning the employee will ask to physically see your ID/DL instead of just asking for a birthdate. CAL Ranch is not anything unique or new. The only difference is some people actually care about the law and their job, some don't. / Edit; Re-read OP... CAL Ranch requires a DOB for other firearm related products as well including powder and uppers (without a BCG and CH), etc. Projectiles (reloading bullets), specifically handgun calibers, doesn't surprise me. |
| Not sure most understood what you said OP based off comments. Being carded for projectiles is dumb. Its not ammo, its projectiles, not the same. Maybe the company has its own policy saying to because everything and everyone is litigation happy and scared. But still, its not ammo. |
