| I've been looking at houses outside of twin falls. I read that it's violent crime rate is above the national average. How does it feel on the ground there? Is it a safe place? Are there a lot of druggies or homeless? |

Like most areas with a large agricultural based economy, there is a huge population of illegal aliens in the Magic Valley. Most of them are hard working people trying to earn a living, I said most but not all. The few bad apples are responsible for a lot of the local crime, and there's been quite a few murders in the area the last several years commited by these bad apples. Drugs are also a local problem but where aren't they? Unlike much of the nation pot is still illegal in Idaho, so you don’t smell it everywhere daily (not true on the weekends), but I think this (drug) problem is the main source of the violent crime problem. The local community college has a refugee program, so the population is becoming more diverse, for example a Mosque was built in Twin a few years ago; and when bacon was strewn about the premises recently it was investigated as a hate crime. Homelessness exists, but it isn't a huge problem that I've noticed when I go there. There's no encampments that I've ever seen. The winters are cold but not as cold as eastern Idaho, and there's not near as much snow but they get some every winter. The summers get into triple digits regularly (but it's a dry heat  ). You could do a lot worse I suppose.

I live outside of Twin Falls. In almost 5 years we've had 4 instances of theft and no violent crimes. I'd say that's not bad. Twin Falls is a city and crime is more prevalent in cities. If you're going to live in county outside of Twin Falls, crime is much lower. How's it compared to where you live now? |

My city was actually worse though, but I think twin falls was above the national average which surprises me. I notice on Google earth street view the city looks real nice around the bridge and the mall and stuff, but as I get into the residential area I see crappy trailer parks and older houses. That's not necessarily bad, but that's why I asked. |

By we, I meant our neighborhood. 4 thefts in our neighborhood of 100+ homes in the almost 5 years I've lived here. Our homes are on lots 1 acre or bigger and we know who does and doesn't belong here. I personally have not been a victim of any crime while living here. If you're using a site like areavibes to determine that a city has high crime. Look at the maps to find out in what areas the crimes are occurring, then don't move to those areas. There's plenty of areas reasonably close to the hospital and shopping that are lower in crime than Twin Falls proper. |

How bad is the wind about 7 miles south of town? About 7 or 8 miles away from the river. I'm definitely more worried about crime than wind though. I used to live on a hilltop that had pretty severe wind. I didn't like it, but I'd rather have wind than tweakers stealing my stuff every time I leave home. |

| If I live in twin falls where would I go to shoot and go 4 wheeling? By 4 wheeling I mostly mean just exploring BLM and forest service roads. My style of shooting is just finding a place to shoot at 100 yards or less. Public land is good. A shooting range is okay. Which road do I go out to find that? |

There’s a bunch of riding trails just across the bridge on the Jerome side of the Canyon for riding. There’s no shooting though, until you go north of the freeway. Once the snow melts there are hundreds of miles of dirt roads and trails and open country to shoot in the South Hills. Within an hour or two of Twin in any direction is world class riding of every kind. There is an awesome shooting range at the Jerome Gun Club about 15 miles away from TF. |

Latah county in the Palouse/lower panhandle went red this last election. Yeah we have a bunch of libs due to the university, but they are losing ground. I am definitely contacting my representative about not supporting this bill. |
