| Hayden isn’t exactly mountains and food, it’s kind of adjacent to. CDA will have the typical tourist draw but I like brewery pubs and there are a few close-ish that are with it, one north of Hayden in Sandpoint in an old post office and one west in Rathdrum. Mountains are towards Montana which is dang close. Jump on I90 at CDA and start going east. The Brig museum at Farragut is pretty neat for the local history of WWII if you’re into that. |

| I think you can hike around schweitzer without paying anything. Mineral ridge is 15 minutes outside cda. Lolo hot springs is a few hours away. It gets pretty touristy in the summer, and July can be hot and very dry, and may be smoky. We got rain for the first time in over a month last night. |

I live in the Sandpoint area, like said before Schweitzer is great that time of year. If you’re in the area my favorite hole in the wall restaurant is the Pack river store about 10-15 minutes away. Everything is scratch made and it’s really good. Just sit down grab a soda or beer from the cooler and they will take your food order. If you’re going to glacier park take SR 200 out of Sandpoint it’s a great drive and so much nicer than I90. If you have time plan a stop a Ross creek Cedars . Only takes about an hour or two to walk through but definitely worth the detour. |
