A bill (HB3320) that would require all FFL's and firearms manufacturers that are located in the State of Il be required to obtain a certain license to do business in IL. The cost of the license is determined to be sufficient in that all fees collected (from all applicants) is equal to the estimated cost of the state's 'gun violence' per year. This is estimated to be near a billion dollars per year (per the video). There are other things associated with this but this is the cliff notes version. Essentially, a bill to put FFL's in the state out of business (thru driving up the cost of licensing to unrealistically high levels). If passed, efective 01 Jan 2028.... |

Yeah, I think this was proposed earlier this year or even last year. Not to go on a rant, but here is my take: The goal is to simply choke out all FFL's in the state. The State level FFL, PICA, etc. are already doing a fine job of that. 5 years ago I would have said this Bill couldn't have passed, but now I sadly expect it will. Pritzker has full on stated that his goal is to eliminate firearm production and FFL's in Illinois (literally saw him say it on TV myself). I guess they will import firearms for his protective details and the police departments. It is beyond California levels of derp. We got out 2 years ago, it was very financially and personally painful to do (all our family is in Illinois, and moving a shop is very expensive), but I did not see any other option with the insanity they were putting into law, and the glacial pace that we are "allowed" to fight it through the judicial system. Sven Manticore Arms @Sven - you are a better man than most to remain active in this sub. @OP - sadly, there is no future reality where FFLs or gun owners are allowed to operate/exercise in IL. All the permit (FOID) schemes and bans will inevitably be ruled unconstitutional due to Federal laws. Intrastate commerce laws, however, are (I believe) outside Federal oversight. Pigster will find a way for his protective detail to have firearms and continue to operate his for-profit shooting facility in Wisconsin near the IL border, all while ensuring no business will sell firearms to IL residents. He is literally the reason why Englishmen used to put heads on stakes. |
