My wife sees a self pay concierge doctor for some issues, mainly for RA (his specialty). HEB is where we have our prescriptions filled including from this doctor. I submitted a refill request for my wife for some pain meds yesterday through the HEB app like we have been doing. When I checked the app today to see if it was ready it was no longer listed as one of her prescriptions. This Rx had been refilled by them last month and still had 4 refills left. So we stopped by HEB today and went in to talk to the pharmacist to see what was going on. After looking into it they told us that HEB was no longer filling prescriptions from that doctor. They did not know why other than their system is saying no and all of the prescriptions from her doctor have been cancelled. And because they have been cancelled she can't even have them transferred elsewhere. The pharmacist told us that it could be that the doctor wasn't current with his DEA standing or something like that but he would need to call HEB corporate to find out. When we got to the car my wife texted her doctor to let him know. He doesn't work weekends but actually called her a few minutes later. He already knew what the deal was. Apparently HEB recently lost or settled some big wrongful death lawsuit involving their pharmacy so their overreaction (his word) was to not only not fill pain med scripts from non-pain management specialists but to also not fill any from doctors like him. I may have some details wrong but it that was the gist. So they won't fill anything from him, even non-pain meds. He said he worries this is the first domino to fall and will mean everyone will have to go see pain management specialists for pain meds. He is going to write her new prescriptions so she can take them elsewhere. Hopefully she doesn't have any other issues with them. Anyone else experience this sort of thing with HEB or any other pharmacy? |
| No, not like this, but i will say that most pharmacies have been going down hill. My walgreens used to be excellent, now, most of the techs dont gove a shit and the pharmacists are slow as fuck. Ive been looking for a small private pharmacy that I can build a relationship with so I dont have to deal with this corporate bs. |

We used to use Walgreens mainly because the one we went to was one of the few remaining 24-hour stores. We saw similar with it too, used to be great then really went downhill. When the HEB was built by our house we switched to them and they've been great. We understand why HEB is doing this but it sucks. The only other pharmacy nearby is CVS so we will take the new prescriptions there and leave everything else with HEB. |

Your wife's MD knows this. He knew this before he wrote her prescription. I'll bet he has other pharmacists cancelling his prescriptions as well. |

I've had similar problems with CVS over non-opioid/non-pain management drugs. I think their databases get breached/corrupted more than they care to admit. Something with my company FedEx account, even my bank account. Within the last 6 months, phone numbers and old addresses we haven't used since we moved two years ago have been popping up in statements, causing invoices and bills to go to places we don't have access to. |

Those lawsuits were due to a bunch of very greedy immoral people, the problem is we now all pay. exec's at purdue and big pharma should of been in jail for that one they knew the pill mills were the problem. Hell I had my daughters concussion specialist refuse to write RX for a non narcotic pain med. He said she'd have to go see a pain mgt doc, guess what pain mgt docs won't see a minor.  our medical system is great for acute/trama issues but anything beyond that it's a scattered cluster f*&K

@Dynamo I just now saw this thread. Why didn’t you call me? While I couldn’t have fixed this specific problem, I might have been able to find out the root cause and suggest some alternatives to save you some time and trouble. I hope that you all have found an acceptable solution by now. |
