PA lawmakers advance gun control bills following York police shooting The four bills that advanced on Monday all sponsored by Democrats were reported out of the committee with party-line votes, and now head to the full House chamber for consideration. The bills advanced despite strong pushback from Republican lawmakers on the committee. The bills approved by the committee were: House Bill 1099 , sponsored by state Rep. Morgan Cephas, would ban self-assembled guns that are constructed entirely from non-metal substances, which are sometimes referred to as ghost guns. House Bill 1593 , sponsored by state Rep. Perry Warren, would remove a background check exemption for long guns, which would effectively require background checks for all gun purchases. House Bill 1859 , sponsored by state Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, would establish Extreme Risk Protection Orders in Pennsylvania, which would allow courts to issue orders that temporarily prohibit a person from possessing or buying a gun if that person is determined to be a threat to themselves or others. House Bill 1866 , sponsored by state Rep. Mandy Steele, would ban Glock switches and other machine gun conversion devices that accelerate a gun's rate of fire. Here's the link to who voted for/against the "Universal Background Check" bill that passed the House. Get off your asses and write these people to either thank them, or let them know you will never vote for them again. Especially Thank Rep. Jim Haddock, Rep. Frank Burns, and Rep. Anita Kulik , for being the only democrats to vote against it. Super thanks to Frank Burns for being the ONLY democrat to vote against all 3 bills. (KYW Newsradio) The Pennsylvania House of Representatives devolved into chaos as a bill that would have outlawed devices that turn a semi-automatic handgun into a machine gun was voted down. The ban on machine gun conversion devices, or Glock switches, failed on the House floor by one vote as state Rep. Frank Burns (D-Cambria County) joined all Republicans in voting no. The session devolved into a shouting match after state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D-Philadelphia) implied the Trump administration was the tyrannical government of which Second Amendment supporters warned. "For people who want to pretend that they are 'no tread on me, don't tread on me,' I would make you aware there's a guy I know who's treading and you all never have anything to say about it," Kenyatta said, "so save me your self-righteous speeches about standing up for tyranny when you do nothing to stand up for tyranny consistently and constantly."
