I moved to Solano County last year for college. I recently bought a revolver from someone on Texas and need to get it received and transferred out here. The FFL from whom I buy does not do transfers, period. Anyone from the area have suggestions for FFLs? Kitchen table would probably be best. The only recommendation I got is for a place that charges $100 per transfer, which IMO is outrageous, but folks on Calguns have already normalized such practices. My last such transfer only had a $20 fee in SoCal. My brother's FFL where he lives charges $10. And given the low cost of the gun, DROS, the taxes, etc. would be well over half the value of the gun with such a high fee. So I am definitely open for suggestions. Dexent to deal with, reasonable fees, and not too far from the Vallejo area, which I live near. |

| Unless the transaction is face to face at the FFL, I've never really seen fees less than a hundred bucks per gun to have them shipped in and transferred. I'm also not entirely sure how the "roster" works with revolvers, I think they still need to be on the approved list but I could be wrong. |

I've definitely seen under $100 as this is not my first such transfer ever and there are some in the greater Bay Area that are well under $100, they are just really far from me. I've generally paid in the $20-40 range in the past but I've mostly, although not exclusively, used kitchen table FFLs. Dealers out of State definitely charge well under that amount in many cases for such transfers and I have seen that firsthand, including at shops. Given that experience, I don't think my expectations are out of line here. The effect of DROS and the excises honestly makes it seem even more outrageous. I used to go out of my way to avoid FFLs with really high fees like that. The revolver is C&R. Made in 1968. |

Heck, there's one in the Bay Area (barely) that is currently $50, they are just really far, especially since my main availability is during high traffic times and it also requires crossing the bridge. |

The anti-gun laws are working as they expected. It is no wonder you are unable to get your firearm in any reasonable way. When you go to the FFL for your handgun, consider buying a whole bunch of ammo and transfer that during the same FFL transaction. It may be a while before the ammo restrictions are lifted. Anti-gun laws do not affect criminals but seriously infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens. |

I have largely avoided buying ammo in-State. Not worth the hassle, generally, and now with the excise tax, it is just too expensive, especially when considering how high gun store ammo prices can be. I only bother when I am desperately low and already buying a gun, anyways, as long as the out-the-door price is not too outrageous. |
