| I'm going to be in Elko next week visiting my daughter and we want to do some gold panning. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go? We don't have a metal detector so we'll be flying blind. Just some rivers or creeks to try our luck. We have a 4-wheel drive so we can get to remote places without issue. |

I didn't know this was something you could do in Elko. There's a lot of mining out there though. If you're still out here in Nevada, I would however recommend that you take 227 from Elko to Lamoille and see Spring Creek and then take the scenic byway up into the Ruby Mountains-- it is quite beautiful and, funny enough, I was there yesterday and had a really great time. |

This, Lamoille canyon is gorgeous, hike to the beaver dam or up to the lakes. We lived in SC for 9 years and the only place we panned for gold was in Sutter Creek. |
