Planning a trip with a couple of families to fish the Cranberry in the spring of 2025. How can this Ohio boy legally carry in the National Forest and the state of WV? I have a Florida non-resident CCW but no Ohio CCW as it's now constitutional carry in our state. Also, looking at staying at the Cranberry Campground and using the Bishop Knob as a backup. Any advice is much appreciated neighbors.

We used Tea Creek now and then as a "night before" meet up camp. It can have bear problems. There are shelters along the South Fork of Cranberry. I think it's FR101 (gated), but you can walk, bike, ride horseback in there. @ ZW17 |

I’m not sold on the spring crowd at Cranberry since it’s one of the most popular in WV. |

I’m not sold on the spring crowd at Cranberry since it’s one of the most popular in WV. Dogway Fork is a native stream. You'll have to check the regulations. It might be fly fishing only. I don't fish there since it's a good drive from my cabin. But I'd probably fish Williams river now that the road is open again. (I think). Williams River also has dispersed camp sites scattered between the road and river. Like I said, it was a backpacking place for me. |
