18 months ago, my job sent me to WV to do survey work on the MVP pipeline. I started up in the Fairmont area and slowly worked my way down into the Cowen area. The last few months I was staying in Flatwoods. As a land surveyor in oil/gas, I spend my days out on foot walking around in nature, loved every minute of it. I have met some amazing people and seen some of the most beautiful land in America. I have worked all over the country, nowhere else compares. My home is in MO but I genuinely am considering selling the house and moving. My wife is down also. Yesterday morning I was out surveying in the hills out by Cowen...when I got a phone call from the office. "we need you on a different project, we need you to be in Wisconsin tomorrow blah blah blah". 900 miles later, I am sitting here depressed in WI  . I didn't want to leave. Flat land is boring and to easy lol. I feel like I left a piece of myself back in WV. My home is in MO but my heart is in WV. I want you guys to wake up every morning and be proud of your state. Never take what you have for granted. I woke up this morning somewhere north of Indianapolis and looked out the window and saw...nothing. No mountains, no rolling hills, no WV. So farewell for now. | There is a reason it's Almost Heaven. Despite my state identifier, we lived on WV for 11 years. We moved just across the river in Ohio, but go to WV for various reasons a few times a week. There is a sort of feeling you get living there. It's definitely a unique experience. My wife's family lives on a creek and it's just about as relaxed and country as you can get. It's fantastic. |
