It is no surprise the numbers really dropped off. It is also no surprise you can see a run up in purchasing prior to July 01.

It's the lowest number since August 2016 (36,031). July is typically a lower volume month, but the effects of I-1639 are clearly evident.
I'm trying to remember what happened in March 2016 though, since that number is really high (126,000) and April 2016 was pretty high as well (65,565). Seems strange that March 2016 was an exact even number to like that..... San Bernardino was in December 2015, and Obama's clown shoes Executive Action crap was in January 2016, but it seems to be a delayed response. 41F went into effect in July 2016, but that wouldn't impact NICS numbers in March 2016. |

I'll wait while you go look for it. 
Huh, that's strange, I could have sworn I saw that article, but all I can find on the ST today is articles about how police are bad, Trump supporters are in hiding and two shootings in Pioneer Square. Sunday is usually the diversity edition, perhaps something about transgender rights and racism?

August numbers are not up yet, kind of odd. Seems to be more of a lag than I remember, going to bump the thread so it doesn't archive and post August numbers when they become available.
ETA 09/13/2019 August 2019 Numbers are out: 40,144 Aug 2018; 44,867 Aug 2017; 42,120 Aug 2016: 46,645 New number down but does not look like a significant drop. |
