I’m old, and out in Cali with my parents (pushing 80 + decades) visiting the area. Currently staying between Belmont and San Carlos in a motel. We want to walk the bridge after peak AM traffic ( like 10:30’s) and could use some guidance to keep from falling down and dying just from taking a walk for our last trip (most likely) as a family on this Friday monumental trip. ???? I really want to tour Alcatraz Island myself because I will most likely not make it back out to the West-Coat in my lifetime. Anyhow, my Pops and I are not *ussies and ARMY Vets, we would just appreciate a little guidance to keep from missing cool shizzle! ?? |

From the Belmont/San Carlos area I'd get on the BART at Redwood City or Hillsdale, which ever is closer to your hotel. Take it north towards the city and get off at the Millbrae station. Connect to the Red Line (one way to go) and exit Civic Center/UN Plaza. Come up to the street and turn on Google Maps. Walk south on Market (about one block), right on 8th, quick left on Grove, go one more block west to Larkin and catch the 101 Bus here; https://maps.app.goo.gl/r6aXwX6zXDTBnJfT6 Enjoy the bus ride through the neighborhoods and get off at Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. Walk on over to the Welcome Center; https://maps.app.goo.gl/XFGazks94tBFYfXq5 Dress warm homie!!! Enjoy the walk. BART passes you can get at the stations and you pay for how far you want to go. The bus passes you can use the app Muni Mobile. Getting around in SF is so easy. For Alcatraz, kinda the same thing; find a bus line that connects the wharf/Pier 33 to the BART (easy from Embarcadero). Have fun, let us know how it goes. |

| It was pretty awesome and got a few good pics too. The only “hairy” moment was walking back toward our rig up on the hill after passing under the bridge on the gravel path. There was a Shit-Bag smoking black tar from a Coke can before you walk over a pedestrian bridge. My folks were totally oblivious. Me, on the other hand was ready to toss shit-stain over the cliff as soon as he opened his mouth. I reckon he realized that I was not friendly and didn’t say anything after we locked eyes. I’m grateful for that too. |

| I dig it. I’m from Down South and not in tune with that sort of crap. However, was really impressed with folks in Cali after saying “Bless you” after they sneezed and the response after holding elevator doors open @ hotels, etc. it’s been years since I’ve been out here so things have changed. If I was a Ziilionare I would invite my West Coast Brothers & Sisters to stop in for suds and primer busting whenever they rolled through. Just a dream but, hope the best for Y’all! |
