Have a work related trip this week to DC ( staying at Willard )
Never been to DC , but I will have some free time Any firearms related stores ? I understand the laws are super restrictive , so I will be leaving my EDC and pocket knife at home

Plenty of stores in NoVa and MD, however, anything you purchase had better be on the way back home. The simple answer to anything firearm related in DC is No. Try to enjoy the Museums and Monuments. You will be in a good neighborhood, with lots of overpriced things to eat. |

Empty shell casings, lead bullets, or live ammuntion: non-DC residents are BANNED from possessing these under the crime: "unregistered ammunition" (yes - even fired cases count). No intent required. A construction worker was convicted when he forgot about a few .22 rounds in his truck while doing some contract work in DC. The judge believed his story about forgetting that the ammo was there, but convicted him anyway. Pepper spray: must be registered at the time of purchase in DC. Not sure if non-DC residents are allowed to own. "Rape whistle" - still GTG in DC (for now). Photography: be careful what you attempt to photograph. If you show too much interest in certain public buildings, authorities can and will confront you. After you depart DC for free America, you might consider the NRA's HQ Museum & book shop. Two of my favorite shops in the area are Virginia Arms in Manassas and Sharpshooters in Springfield. Both require a car to visit (taxi/metro is not a reasonable option). |
