I was looking at some maps, and it looks like BLM land surrounds route 95 south out of Marsing past the farmland, near Sommer Camp Rd. Basically right around the Homedale Gun Club. But I haven't shot out there before. Is that area G2G? Anyone shoot out there? |

I used to go out past the prisons, on Pleasant Valley Road, once you get passed the power lines (don't worry you'll see it and know), you can shoot anywhere. There are usually some unsafe people out there, but there's a still a few good spots if you look. There are some good back stops out there. Hopefully someone will know about that area. |

BLM Landmap: YELLOW areas are legal to shoot on, however some are blocked access. (Private land is in the way, preventing access to it. I guess if you've got a helicopter, you're good to go! :) Master BLM Map BLM Shooting Areas: Specifically, BLM gives this document with a focus on where to safely shoot. "Safely" is a shrug, because I wouldn't go anywhere near some of these areas on a weekend when people are shooting in all directions. There's just too many people out south of the prison these days. I drove to check out most everything north of Eagle, and pretty much all of it ain't shootable. I used to shoot on BLM land just north of Floating Feather near HWY 16, but that Valnova huge planned community began building up and more and more bulldozers and finally houses popped up in the impact area. Another shooting area gone. :( I wish the Eagle Shooting Sports Park got built. Right now, the archery portion (super nice!) is up and usable, but I think the city crawfished from the bangbang portion. |
