Most who come to this area feel like it’s a big improvement over what they came from, kindness included. I’d say it’s gotten noticeably ruder (especially on the roads) in the last 7 years though. I weep for how this area was 40 years ago as I remember it, there’s no going back.

I bailed out of the Portland burbs 3 years ago and moved my biz up 2 years ago and haven't set foot in that state in almost exactly 2years. I'm up by Spirit lake. Being from Moscow Originally it was like coming home. Living up here is a lot more work but its way better in many respects compared to the Portland area. Only downer is the lack of good restaurants. I miss my Bahn Mi and Japanese food. But I will pay that price to not have to deal with the douchebaggery. |

Its on a well that is currently producing, but im worried about it in aug/sept. If anybody knows about wells in the area id love to PM some details and see what you thought. |

If its deep enough you're gonna be fine. Water is a Looooong ways down. We are on a community well and I think its at like 650ft or something. really most of the water in the aquifer comes from Pend Orielle from what I gather. That lake doesn't have a surface outlet so it goes under ground. So as long at pend orielle has water, you should be ok. Just be sure to get the water tested for heavy metals and radiologicals. There is uranium down there and we have BAD Radon issues. Our house when we got it was like 3-4x the max for radon so we had an active radon system put it. 100% get your house tests for that stuff. The previous homeowner here ended up with Leukemia about a year after we moved in. I think it was in part to the radon. Supposedly the Athol Prairie is one of the worst places in the country for radon. We got a lot of throium and uranium done under ground and radon is a by product of their decay from what I understand. |

My radon levels are 4.6 (epa limit should not be higher than 4). I was planning on seeing if they drop when we live in it (currently house is not occupied) and then mitigate if needed. |

Water table might be higher down there due to your proximity to the lake and river but IDK honestly. I am far from an expert. I do know, where we are just south of spirit lake, we are sitting on several hundred feet of silt and river rock. Our MX track has been a royal pain to put in due to the crappy soil and all the rock. I am pretty sure the aquifer is under all that crap by quite a ways. Hence the depth. But 150ft is good. Hopefully you keep having good water all year long. I would also talk to your neighbors and see what they have for water and how it holds up. Worst case you gotta put in a cistern or something. I would look into an active system if you can. I know our house was at like 13 during the inspection in July. A neighbor's basement was at like over 100 at one point or so I was told. Its not something I really want to mess around with. |

Been here since 1975 and this place is awful. I loved almost everything about Meridian/Star/Eagle when I visited in September, but frankly it's not a good looking area (at least for me.) CDA seems to check the boxes....smaller, naturally beautiful, water nearby, good people.....and it's not full of batsh*t crazy people. |
