Im planning a road trip for me and my kid in a couple weeks from east texas to atlanta. Id like to do the bulk of driving on day one so that maybe we can get up on day two, do something interesting in the town we stayed then drive 2 to 3 hours to atlanta. Which has more to offer as far as interesting things we might do or see, birmingham or montgomery? Both seem perfectly positioned for what i am trying to do. Thank you for any recommendations you might have |

I’m sure there are some nice areas in Montgomery, it’s not in my top any number of places to stop. They do have a white water park that is where the US Olympic white water teams trained at. Birmingham, there are some good family-friendly areas. Check out a Birmingham Baron’s minor league baseball game or Birmingham Legion soccer game. The Barber Motorsports Museum and Park is the world’s largest and best motorcycle museum and its near Bucee’s. You can also stop at the Talladega CMP Marksmanship Park to shoot if you’d like. |

Take the route (I-20) that goes through Birmingham. You'll stay on the interstate that way. The east side is better. There's a Bass Pro and Barber Motorsports Park on the east side near Leeds, as well as a Bucee's at the same exit. And about 30 minutes east is the CMP Talladega range, as others have said. If you are south on I-10, take I-65 from Mobile to Montgomery, then I-85 to Atlanta. I lived in Montgomery metro from 1996 to 2022. Not much to see in Montgomery aside from Civil Rights historical stuff and state capital stuff. Forget about the whitewater park in Montgomery. It's in a still-sketchy area of town, despite what the democcommunist mayor wants you to believe. About an hour east is a new Bucee's just outside of Auburn. Auburn is a SEC college town. |

Outstanding, thanks yall very much! I was leaning towards staying on i20 and yall sealed that deal real good (my dad went to Auburn and maybe checking out campus was on my list of possibilities if we did montgomery but that will be a different trip) Edit to add that motorsports museum is likely just what im looking for |

If your kid is on the younger side Birmingham downtown has the McWane Science Center. Neat science museum with lots of interactive exhibits. |
