Might have next weekend open for a short shakedown hike.  Any takers, and ideas besides the Magpie Trailhead?

Try the wolf trail. It's about 10 miles south of Watford. It's been a few years since I have been in it but in 2016 it was gtg. I

No it's not inside the park it's on forest service land so you can carry.

it goes back to a park gate about 3 or 4 miles following some badlands.

If you want a real doozy of a hike try to hiking the old Summit Trail that washed out in 2013 starting from the CCC Campground up to Summit Campground.I tried hiking that one a few years ago and it just drops off from a landslide

Looks pretty cool. From the satellite I'm not sure there is much of a trail there is anymore or how visible it will be with the snow. That being said, if we are trailblazing it will be slow, slower in snow, and will be 7.5 miles if we want to park a truck at each end. Also, supposed to be a high around 27°F Saturday. Alternatively, if we hiked from the lease road to the fence line that's about 3.5 miles each way and still get 7 miles total.

Ok. Let's plan to start the hike at 10am unless there are any objections.
