Long story short, coming in to work some time ago I spied a large dog just sitting on the side of the road. I went back, and stopped. He was covered with bald spots and sore, and flies, skinny as a rail, and had basically given up. He was just sitting there waiting to die.
I gave him food and water and moved a little heaven and earth to get a staff member to come get him - she used to run a dog rescue back in the day. This good boy was so well behaved, very polite. I gave him water which he drank, and every time I had to walk around my car he'd follow, as if to say, please don't leave me. So I didn't and when Teddy got there, he got more water, treats and he gave her a kiss when she put him in the truck. I gave her what cash I had on me. So, this was him a few days later in the place she had available. Fresh water, food, medicated baths, a vet trip, whole nine yards. That was supposed to be a pig enclosure, but the pig hadn't been moved in yet, the "dog house" was brand new. 
He didn't and still won't bother her chickens, who have popped into his yard a few times. So, at the time, we had a gent who was going to take him up north, but at the last second a family emergency caused him to have to back out. So, now he is looking for a forever home. I do NOT know the breed, Teddy said probably a mastiff breed. All I know is my heart broke when I saw him and I have no space for a big dog. If I can do it will try to upload some more current photos on this thread from my phone. Long story short, as the rescuer wants is enough to cover the meds and vet trip, probably $300, which I would say is less than she actually paid to get him healthy. Anyone need a good boy? Edit to add, rather dumb of me not to mention this is in the Florence area. |

Quoted: Huh, just saw this thread, I probably would have taken him depending on interaction with my two. Looks to be a Plott Hound. Great dogs, very smart, need a LOT of exercise. Don't give up, I think the lady only took him in because no one else would. You could probably still get him if you wanted him. |
