its my neighboring county and is making its rounds here. EKP(east ky power) is going to be the supplier of electric to it, and supposedly running a gas line from morehead to power the 2 turbines just for it. EKP is a big employer around here, ironically this may have killed the solar farm they were/are building around me, literally, I will share about a mile or so of fence line with it. I’m not a big fan of having a solar farm next to me, but from the sound of it it’s 1000x better than living around a data center. Solar is much more benign. So far the prices I've heard are- $10k an acre here for the solar farm from EKP, and $60k an acre from an AI company(nda’s keeping the name out) for the data center. I’m sure locals will fight it understandably. |

Hey neighbor. Not much more info than what you posted. Everything Ihave read is that data centers suck for the neighbors, water table, and power costs. Old school Maysville folks in the government are for it. Having known the judge executive all of my life, I know he is on his high horse about it. You're correct that many locals are against it. It would be a hard decision as a landowner turning down $40k an acre. My understanding is that it will not create many jobs once construction is completed, so there's that as well. Everyone I am talking to seems to think it's Amazon, but I have my doubts. I think that's just habitual thought when big tracts are bought up. Town hall meeting last week I think. Several folks I work with were there, channel 12 sent a crew, and a whole bunch of folks in expensive clothes. Will it happen? No idea. If it does, I will sell and head to my home county (Lewis). I'm only in Mason now because when we moved back here after being gone 23 years, Mason schools won out over Lewis. |

I cant blame them, it’s pretty good Money for here. And thats tollesboro. I’m sure you’re familiar with it. lol. i think one of my neighbors said the mason project is close to that bp on the AA as you head towards Germantown. |
