| Did anyone hear or read if they are going forward with the new shooting complex north of Rapid City? I know of the neighbor's disapproval and the funding problems, but I couldn't find anything in the news. Thanks. |

It appears lawmakers are still a little hot and bothered about the whole thing but its too far along to not see it completed. State lawmakers question authority for $20 million shooting complex, but it moves ahead anyway I thought this was an interesting comment... Robling (the GFP Secretary) told the committee he expects a grand opening for the shooting range in the fall of 2025. The department expects the complex to generate around $550,000 in annual revenue, though he acknowledged it would not be profitable and would require financial supplementation through federal Pittman-Robertson funds. Wonder if building it somewhere East River might have been a better idea. I don't know..... |

| It's hard to say but if run well with competitions, classes, leagues, etc I think 550k is super low ball for revenue. Either way I'm still ok with the whole project if it's a small net loss for a while. The state and the gfp spend millions on stupid ass projects with little benefit to the community. This one actually has the potential to benefit the citizens of the area. Provide classes for new shooters. Get kids involved. All that stuff. |
