Howdy. Been lurking on Arfcom since 2002. Remember the old days when Eric the Hun and that guy with GI Joe dolls were all the rage… Been in Fremont county WY since 2017. Wondering if any one is in Riverton or Lander area and is a SME in HAM, drones, and/or SAR. I’m a volunteer with the local Civil Air Patrol unit and they’re looking for more adults with such skills and interests. They’re a “composite squadron” of cadets and adults. The adults are mostly veterans and are currently running the WY Wing’s entire UAV program. Now they’re trying to get into hosting the Wing’s communications suite of gear. But they need a couple more guys who understand that world. If only as guest speakers or SME who are interested in training others in HF/VHF/UHF bands, repeaters, etc. Wind River CAP is the Facebook page for more info. They hope to have enough people trained and equipped by the Fall to be ready to deploy for real world SAR missions: aircraft, drones, tactical repeaters and ground teams. They meet Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm at the Lander National Guard Armory. Sorry no train sets or imitation crab meat. Veterans are welcome. |
