Anyone here a member of America First Credit Union? I have been a member for years and always been happy with them. This morning when I went to log into to my account, I got a pop up notice of their updated policies with a box to check to agree to it. As usual it is very long, legalese and I was about to just click the I AGREE box, but had managed to scroll down a bit and this section caught my eye:

13. Prohibited Payments. The following types of payments are prohibited through the Service, and we have the right but not the obligation to monitor for, block, cancel and/or reverse such payments:

Payments to or from persons or entities located in prohibited territories (including any territory outside of the United States);
Payments that violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation;
Payments that violate the Acceptable Use terms in Section 14 of the General Terms below; and
Payments related to: (1) tobacco products, (2) prescription drugs and devices; (3) narcotics, steroids, controlled substances or other products that present a risk to consumer safety; (4) drug paraphernalia; (5) ammunition, firearms, or firearm parts or related accessories; (6) weapons or knives regulated under applicable law; (7) goods or services that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity; (8) goods or services that are sexually oriented; (9) goods or services that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance, or the financial exploitation of a crime; (10) goods or services that defame, abuse, harass or threaten others; (11) goods or services that include any language or images that are bigoted, hateful, racially offensive, vulgar, obscene, indecent or discourteous; (12) goods or services that advertise, sell to, or solicit others; or (13) goods or services that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction;

I get blocking payments for illegal stuff, but everything else they list is bullshit. I submitted feedback questioning them blocking payments for legal, especially constitutionally protected items and did not agree to their terms. I will be calling in during business hours hoping to speak to someone higher up the chain too.

Cross posting to GD too to get more eyes on this.

I used to work at AFCU years ago...

This appears to be their Zelle and online Bill pay services - NOT America First payments, such as credit or debit cards -

It's the same as how Paypal and Venmo will ban you if they find out you're using it for firearms purchases.

I am 99% sure they have just copied and pasted the required terms from Zelle / whoever processes the bill pay - because if they didn't, you wouldn't be allowed to use them.

In other words, you won't get denied if you go to a gun store with your AFCU debit / credit card.

I haven’t seen that yet. My buddy’s father is on their board. Going to ask some questions. But I’ll move my accounts if they are buying into the old Operation Chokepoint bullshit.

Please let us know what you hear. I have tried multiple times this morning to talk to an actual person, but the CS reps I get on the phone are not able to answer any questions, nor give me contact for somebody that can. I submitted feedback online, but can't send a secure message without logging in and in order to log in I have to agree to the terms.

Between the other response here and in the GD thread, I am not overly concerned as it seems like they got roped into it by a third party service. But as a 30+ year member I want them to use providers that are not trying to administrate freedom

Finally got a reply, albeit a bit of a canned response. We’ll see if I hear anything else.

We went into the branch and asked about this and the person behind the desk didn't have a clue as to what we were talking about.  He went online and tried to find the document but couldn't.  Called his Compliance department and they didn't know anything about it.  we spent a good 45 minutes in the office trying to find the original document.  He was sharing his computer screen and I was trying to help him find it but it wasn't there.  Very odd.
