Are there conservative viewpoints to vote "yes" on H? Generally speaking, I vote no to keep shit as it was. The little research I've done, makes me still think "no" but thought I'd get some conservative viewpoints on my unfiltered forum. |

In theory I am for it. I despise the party system and believe there is way too much power behind the scene with candidates being merely puppets beholden to the party's wishes and not the people. That said, in practice I think it will generate a lot of milk toast wet noodle candidates over time. I think they way we are set up now forces democrat candidates to be more conservative to even have a chance. I think this amendment would make conservatives need to be more liberal to get elected. I'm going to vote against. The biggest proponents and contributors of this amendment are the kirby's. Joe Kirby, who claims to be republican, who started this initiative said explicitly to keloland in 2022 he wanted his party to become less radicalized as a reason for pushing this. Also to note. The Kirby's are also top donors to their own initiative as well as the right to abortion amendment. Does that sound like the direction we should go? I'll be voting no. |

| As long as we have a party system, primaries need to be closed. Let the Republicans choose their candidate, let the Democrats choose their candidate, etc. We don't need Democrats voting for the weakest Republican to run against their candidate. |

If I'm understanding this right - we'll be voting for the top 2 candidates regardless of party affiliation on election day. Remember a thread in GD last election cycle of a guy in California holding his nose and voting for Feinstein because she was the less radical of the 2 Dems he could vote for. So while the R's in charge now, someday it could happen where it flips and we're sitting here at election time trying to decide what D to vote for. That sounds like it would suck. Thanks for some more insight on where this came from. Thinking I'm a more solid "no" ... knew since I was getting a bunch of flyers in the mail telling me to vote for it without a good explanation there was a good chance something shady is up. |
