The family and I are taking a vacation here in the next few weeks....we've settled on Oahu. For the limited time we have (7days) it sounds like a good option. We like a little nightlife and party type stuff....but are mainly going for the outdoor activities.....climbing, fishing, snorkeling, hiking, exploring, etc,etc As far as staying in Oahu.....I've seen people mention the North shore. Any other areas that are nice to stay at and not too crowded? I think we have given up the air bnb idea....all the ones we've found look like sketchy dumps....we've better off finding a hotel will a room that's got a kitchen. What are some good areas to stay in where it's nice, but not crazy expensive? Some place within walking distance of restaurants, and the beach? Any tips or advice would be great!! There's Ko Olina resort out on the westside(kapolei) they have some nice restaurants and coves on the property and a new open air mall within quick driving distance. Turtle Bay resort on the North shore is nice too, the NS has more of that island vibe. I think you will be doing a lot of driving either way. Traffic getting into and out of both areas will be a pain at certain times but probably worse on the NS.
