Figured I’d start up a thread on this since I don’t see one. Snow finally hit here in Shannondale around midnight. Hasn’t started heavily snowing yet, just just 1/16” of snow on the ground. Grabbed some pre-storm snacks this morning and Home Depot was pretty sporty. Buddy Heaters were gone but there was still salt and firewood. Line for checkout stretched to the entrance but went fast. Harbor Freight looked like it may have had generators. Later in the evening stores had signs posted that they would be closed Sunday. Just chilling with some whiskey, the wood stove, and waiting to see what happens when the light comes up. Hope everyone stays safe and warm. |

Near Point Pleasant. I was expecting 8-12”. Prepared for it. About 1” so far. It was 34 and raining all afternoon. Now the temps are dropping and thats going to make for a bad ice situation. |

| It finally stopped right around sunset. Was mainly sleet today with the snow hitting between 11 and 7 this morning. Shoveled the drive way and am definitely reconsidering a snow blower or at least an electric broom. Towards the end it seemed more like it was freezing rain as I could see the divots it was making in the snow. Was definitely cold enough that my shoveling beer was starting to slush and the can would freeze to my beard. |

Crap is heavy and hard to shovel with the frozen layers. Going to be colder than a well diggers crack in the Klondike the rest of the week. |

We got 6-8 inches of decent snow before the changeover to sleet around noon yesterday. Now there's still 6-8 inches of white stuff on the ground but it's frozen solid. DH was out yesterday taking doctors/nurses/etc. to/from the local hospitals. He said he only went 35 mph on the interstate and avoided Route 11 due to all the accidents on it. Interstate wasn't bad to drive on due to minimal traffic. He also pulled a few sheriff's deputies out of ditches. There's a huge difference between a street snow/all-weather tire and a mud/snow/off-road level five trail rated tire and the latter was required yesterday. |
