Simple question. Once an egg goes into a carton that says "cage free", how does a person know where the egg originated? Is there a specific marking on the shell when it passes through a chicken ovaduct? *rhetorical question |

I'll pay that, but I'm taking two hard boiled eggs for my breakfast before work so they'll last a while. I need them because they're one of the best options. Two eggs are under 200 calories, have negligible sugar, and lots of protein. I won't go so far as to say I need them to live, but they're definitely a huge help. My line for deciding not to buy is a bit higher than most. |

I purchased a dozen extra-large cage free eggs today for $5.09. At less than 43 cents per egg I think I will survive. Breakfast for 1.72 cents, plus toast is still cheaper than cereal. What we really need to discover is the real cost of food without farm subsidies. Between the taxes involved and the cost of running the USDA bureaucracy we would be money ahead if eggs were $8.00 a dozen. Last year the USDA budget was 213.2 BILLION DOLLARS! |
