I was shooting 4+ matches (3gun, carbine, USPSA, Steel Challenge) a month before covid. Since covid, i bet i haven't shot 15 matches. 3 gun is over, i am ok for carbine, I plan on a new Ruger 22/45 lite for Steel Challenge. For USPSA i need some advice. I have shot S&W M&P for all 3 gun and pistol matches since they came out. I still have them. They are fine guns. One is for Production and one is for Limited, but... 1. i am bored with them, 2. All the LTD shooters have moved to LTD Optics. I could get the M&P 2.0 LTD gun slide cut for a red dot, but i would like to keep it as is for "reasons". I am not interested in 2011's or similar. No knock on them, but not my thing. I am not a Glock guy. No knock on them, but not my thing. I like the idea of a M&P Competitor. Do they take the same mags as my M&P 1.0 & 2.0? I can use the same holster. I've had a P365X with an EPS Carry for a few years as my winter carry and love it. The P365 Fuse series has my attention. How are these for comp? What else should i look at? |

I don’t shoot M&P’s but see a fair amount of them at USPSA matches in my area. Most have Apex barrels and triggers and shoot in either Production or Carry Optics. I do know a guy that has one in .40 that he had cut for an optic and shoots in Limited 10. Around here it can be a case of different guns/divisions for different clubs/matches. I shoot Limited Optics mostly, but shoot Limited at a certain club that has a range setup that leans more toward fast hoser stages with minimal no-shoots - so I forego the red dot for iron sights and major power factor. My suggestion would be to hit a couple matches with the equipment you already have and then make a decision about how to proceed. Caveat being that if you’re looking to modify an existing gun or get a new gun to respark interest, that’s very reasonable, as well. |

I young man I shoot with just hit GM with a Canik. First with a poly framed one and he upgraded to a steel one in the last few months. Lots of good options out there. If budget allows look at the DWX. The Shadow 2 and CZ P10F also are very respectable performers. I own all these. |

Are his initials JH and mainly shoots in NE OK and NW AR? But to stay on topic, I wouldn't consider the aluminum frame M&P Competitor. I'd want the steel frame Competitor HD for sure. |

The P365 Fuse slide heats up rather quickly. Something to keep in mind. Shooting wise, I like mine. I have an Icarus grip module on it currently but there's a ton of options out there. There's a few options for recoil kits so you can tune it to your ammo as well. Not a terrible trigger, but definitely better ones out there. Spring kits can help. Armory Craft has some, I'm sure there's others. I got about 2.5k rounds through mine, plus a ton of dry fire so it's fairly smoothed out. Only spring swap I did was the firmer reset spring from AC. All that being said, if I were to do comps, I'd probably go Shadow 2 or DWX if they worked in the division I wanted. I have a Cajunized SP01 that I love to shoot. It's very accurate, shoots flat and all of it cost me as much as the stock Fuse did. Edit: Between the Shadow 2 and the DWX, the Shadow 2 has a much bigger aftermarket. |

OP, I believe the new M&P 2.0 Comp use the same 17 rds magazines as 1.0 version. Most comfortable pistol for me also as I've used mine for 10 years in 3 gun matches. Apex gunsmith fit barrel and Apex trigger. The 1.0 factory barrel sux because it unlocked a bit early as noted by Apex. I now use a slightly modified Canik 9TPfx, its trigger is phenomenal out of the box but with the replacement FreedomSmith Pro flat face trigger, it is even better. For the money, it is a better pistol than my old M&P but I still bring the M&P to the match as backup. |
