I might be picking a nice 2 tone 229-1 from my LGS. 2 tone gun with 3 mags for around $550 OTD...maybe less. I like to have a lot of mags but it looks like the mags for the 229-1 are had to come by? So I have a couple of questions. 1. Best place to buy factory mags or the Mec-Gar ones? 2. Do the 226 9mm mags work? Supposedly the fit and work but wobble so may jam? Anyother things I need to know? Thanks. |

The mags from the 226 will fit in the 229 and work. The “older style” 228 mags will also fit and work in the 229-1. They will fit a little loose but I’ve never had a feed issue when using them. Always 100% locking in and feeding. I can only speak to 9mm, not the other calibers these handguns come in.  Like these. Lanbos Armory is another great place to buy. Looks like they have 226 and 228 mags in stock right now, but out of 229. Click the notification button, they are good about sending an email when back in stock. |
