| I have an opportunity to purchase an XD-9 mm. for $275.00 with one magazine. This will be a hideout home defense weapon. Are they reliable and is this a good price. I am not gun poor. But I thought this was a good price. Thanks for your help. |

XD's are good guns-- at least on the few I've put a few thousand rounds through. Can confirm that they are boringly reliable-- I can't recall ever having a FTF or FTE on the XD. I had one magazine spring wear out though. For the money though, I would get an XD Mod. 3 which MSRP's at $342. The Mod 2/Mod 3 frame ergonomics are a big upgrade to the first gen XD at least in my opinion. |

| Had one right around 2005 or so. Put thousands of rounds through it, at least 5 or 6k, when the locking block developed a crack. SA paid for shipping both ways, replaced the locking block, and gave the gun a new coat of their armory kote. For the $250 I paid for it, the gun was outstanding. |

Funny I ran across this... just today coming out of the indoor range I go to, I decided to walk the cases of used pistols... there it was XD-9 Mod 3 in FDE wearing the RMR plate with no optic and one mag in it... tag says $250... I say why not for that price I have a gen 1 XD9 "duty" and love it. the guy comes out of the back with a plain box... in it was 3 more 16 round mags , the cover plate and a #2 optic plate? How can anyone go wrong with a XD9 for under $300...

Both are XDM-Elite's though this is the "defender" package which means just one magazine and no flared magwell but for $300 you can't beat it. It's taking all my reserve not to buy one of each! Don't need either as I have way too many XD, XDm series pistols.  PSA Clearance Filtered |

XD Mod 4 is supposedly on the way-- may be a contender over the Mod 3. Springfield Upgrades the Echelon and Revamps the XD I really like the look of the slide on the Mod 4! |

The only XD in 9 I have is an XDSC and that feels a bit blockier/larger than my XDm's. Though still not bad and I enjoy shooting the little pig that it is.

| I have a lot more expensive pistols than my XD9 but carried it for about 10 years when I didn't take a subcompact. I would get the mod3 or mod4 that's coming out soon over a used XD9 though. The mod 3/4 have the "m" trigger which is fantastic. Overall better trigger and the grip texture is better on the mod 3/4. |
