Anyone tried 9mm rounds in the subcompact 40 magazines??? I know for a fact that you can put 15 9mm rounds into a 40 magazine in the full size version, but I'm curious about in the sub?
I have sent Springfield and email and they told me they were not mfg any hi-cap mags for the 9mm subcompact at this time. Thanks in advance!! |

Great info!!!! Thanks very much!!!!!!!!!
Edited to add, just went out and bought a XD40 subcompact mag today. Brought it home and filled her up, 13 rounds with no problem. They were riding high, but with a few taps on the lips with my rubber mallet, the round went right into place, and seemed to work well. 1st chance I get to take to the range I will report back. Thanks again!! |

I just picked up a copy of Shooting Times and on the back is a picture of the new Springfield XD-Xtension. It is a standard full size magazine with the XD-Xtension sleeve that "effectively extends the grip and fills your hand like a full size frame."
The sleeve looks identical to the grip, and means 17 rounds of 9mm in the full size .40 mag, but still with the compact slide. That is if you can just by the sleeve. Springfield is giving the extra magazine w/ the sleeve away with any new XD purchase. Interesting!! |

Has anyone contacted Springfield to see if the "high cap mag with sleeve" is available for purchase, without purchasing another XD Compact?
I would like to have a couple. |

How much is the new grip extention going to cost?
I have been thinking about getting a sub-compact xd9 for awhile now. Can't decide if I want the compact or a 4''. Or in 9mm or .40. Just read the last post. The compacts are shipping with the sleeve and an extra mag now? |
|
|
I have not contacted Springfield about cost/availability. The thing (sleeve) cant be much, it is simple piece of slip on plastic. Then, of course, you will have the cost of the full zize mag.
I did buy and "adjust" some .40 mags for my 9mm, and they work perfectly. I put the Pierce extension on mine, no addtional cap, just the spot for the finger. Paid $29.95 for the mag at Gander Mtn. |

|
How hard is the adjustment to make?
With the adjustment, sleeve and .40 mag it would hold 17+1 correct? |
|
|
SickMAK90 A pair of needle nosed pliers is all thats needed. ANd 17 plus 1 is correct.

|
Small hammer and flat surface worked for me...
As noted above 13 +1 in the .40 sub magazine. |

Are you just having to bend the lips inward?
|
|
|
Yep, ever so slightly. Just until the round looks like in the above pics... |

More I see stuff like this the more I want a 9mm instead of a .40.
I am going to end up with 2 XD's I think. A SC and a 5''. I may get a .40 or a .357 sig in the 5'' |

Just picked up a sub-compact XD .40 at Dallas Market Hall gun show. They had some great deals, I picked it up with a holster and 3 mags ina a case for $440 out the door. Just picked up 200 rnds at Wally World, can't wait to go shootin'

Question on this topic for a newb... So I see if I can understand this...
The XD9 can take the XD40 mags no problem? And 15 rounds of 9mm can fit in a 10 round 40 magazine? I'm talking full size, not the compact. |
|
|
That is correct. |

Do you always have to customize the fullsize xd40 mags to fit 15 9mm or will some have no problems handling it?
|
|
|
I tried this trick with the full size .40 mags and was only able to stuff 14 rounds of 9mm in it. Is there a technique to make them fit or something?

What about followers/springs with this? There are 2 different followers (marked 1/2) and different springs.

Thank you for having this sticky thread. I bought two XD40 9 rounders and massaged them to match the images above.
Both fed/performed flawlessly acting as 13 round 9mm magazines after the minor squeeze, thanks! |

Any Idea why SA doesn't make 'hi-cap' Subcompact 9mm mags? Only the Neutered ones?
I've got a single 40SC mag I use, and a pair of full-sized mags. Steve |

So what about in states that only allow 10rd mags?
What if you use a 10rd .40s&w magazine and load it up with 15rds of 9mm? Would that be a loophole, or simply illegal? |
|
|
Probably depends on state law. 'People' were doing it during the AWB, figuring it was a loophole. Not that I would know anyone who did that. Springfield also was selling modified Beretta 92 mags during that time as XD 'High-caps'. |

45 GAP magazines fit into the 40/9mm. thats what the gap was designed for. i can interchange the slides on my 40 and 45gap and they function flawlessly.

I tried my .40 sub mags this weekend in my wifes sub 9 and it worked perfectly. I didn't have to make any adjustments.

This is a great post! I have the XD 9 4in and also the .40 sc and I've never thought of stacking 9 inthe .40 mag. I will have to try this process out and see how well it does or me.

So if i buy a 10rnd 40/357 mag.It will hold 17 9mm rnds with no problem? Will the spacer fit proper like the 16 round factory mags?

Okay, I'm a bit confused. It's Friday, I'm at work, and I can't wait to get the hell out of here so my mind is on that.
I've got the full size .40 cal XDM. I really want to get the shorter frame version and might try a possible trade this weekend at the local gun show. Problem is, I've bought over a dozen mags for the thing. Will they work in the shorter framed XDM? If not, I'll just keep the thing. Thanks team. |

The Mecgar .40 mags don't even need tweeking for the XD or CZ to load 9mm.
