I want to cut this Beretta model 75 barrel down and thread 1/2 x 28 to become a model 71. I’ve seen 71s online for sale, but their barrels are threaded 1/2 x 20. Am I creating a sin against Pietro Beretta? Anyone recommend a good shop who can do this? My options are a bit limited locally. For the record, I got this for $580. Attached File |

| I wouldn't do it, especially with threads that aren't what "factory" models would be, even though I know it wouldn't be factory. There are plenty of far more common pistols that could be modified into something similar to what you want....unless you are looking for that exact gun. |

Attached File They ARE fun little pistols with a history... ..but I'd keep that one original. Think about this, even if you cut & thread the barrel.. it still won't have the "Izzy" background |

Yes it would be blasphemy to butcher that gun. But it is yours, and Freedom allows you to do stupid stuff. If you do it, engrave your name onto the frame so everyone will know who to curse in the future. -edit to add- Bowers Group has a 1/2"-20 Versadapt™ Insert for their .22 suppressors along with the standard 1/2"-28. So that is an option. |

If you don't have the Bowers suppressor (which I suspect isn't 1/2-28 female, since they have a 1/2-28 adapter in that list for their *own* suppressor) , Hughes Precision has the adapter (with a wrench flat) to go 1/2-20 to 1/2-28. |
It takes away some of the visual impact when you can't see it.

The Bowers suppressor has a bushing (the ATAS™ insert, I misspoke before and called it the Versadapt) that is available in a number of different barrel threads, the outer thread of the bushing is threaded 3/4" or 7/8" to screw into the tube of their Paradigm or Icon .22 suppressors.
