| I recently ordered 500 rds of what was advertised as Winchester Service Grade 9mm ammo which also showed a picture of the flat nosed 9mm round similar to the M1152 used in the M17/18 pistol series. What I received was 500 rds of Winchester 9mm 115 grain Full Metal Jacket ammo with the round FMJ type round found in WWB. Has Winchester changed their packaging and Contruction? Both the advertised box picture and the boxes I received are brown. |

| I was able to return that case for a refund and ordered another 500 rds from a different vendor which I received today. Same thing, same boxes and same round nosed bullet type. I have emailed Winchester and will see what their response will be. Received a response from Winchester today. This letter is about your submission to Winchester Ammunition. We greatly appreciate that you are reaching out to us. We wanted to let you know there was a change in the ammunition. Service grade isn’t necessarily bound to using flat nose or round nose, just whatever is most available. We switched to round nose in a recent batch to make sure we were getting product out to customers. The ammunition should work as expected. |
| Thanks for passing along the info from Winchester, that's good to know. I'm almost through my second 500-round case of this ammo. It's definitely hot but shoots well, so I plan to buy more in the future. That would have been concerning to open it up and find the round nose bullets instead of the flat version I'm used to, not knowing otherwise. |

Just adding onto this thread some measurements I took for the 115gn FMJ ball SG9W. Mine also has the JAG headstamp. Seems like a fairly normal loading, though I don't know the powder type and I didn't chronograph it. It's some fine flake variety, though I'm really doubting its military WPR 289. Definitely not in the ballpark of 6+ grains of powder that is seen with the flat nose M1152. I'm definitely bringing the chronograph next time I go to the range. The last time, I was chronographing what I thought was the service grade stuff, and got very low velocities. Lower than even the Brown Bear steel-cased. Since it had been pre-loaded into a magazine months before, I could very well have been mistaken. Definitely going to re-check. I bought a bunch of this stuff expecting it to be "real" Service Grade". |

Just picked up 10k of the SG9W50 from Target Sports. So far looks good; WMA 25 head stamp, 115gr FMJ flat nose, primers crimped and sealed. .22 CPR with Ammo+ made it an easy buy. If I can swing another 10k, I plan to. I think Target Sports has their description of this stuff wrong. Says 1190 FPS which is definitely not correct. |
| I went to a show a couple weeks ago and was looking around for this ammo. One dealer had 500 round cases of the traditional 50-round boxes, which is how I’ve bought it in the past. He let me open up a box, and it had the round nose bullets discussed here. A couple other dealers had new 1000-round cases with the smaller square boxes (the ones with the rounds stacked with no internal packaging). Those had the usual flat nose bullets. I bought one of those cases. Just throwing this observation out there. |

The SG9W in traditional boxes ships in a 500 round case that is physically the same size as the 1000 round case SG9W50. The SG9W50 I bought came in the small boxes, reminds me of what 7.62x39 shipped in. I like it, less trash to deal with. Shot some through my 43X today. Really like how well this ammunition shoots out of everything I've tried it in so far (Glock 17, 19, and 43x). I'm going to keep stocking up on it. It is hot, but we're still |
| Yes, it came in the traditional 50 rd flat brown boxes! I recently picked up a SIG M17 and ran a mag of my "Service Grade" round nose ammo thru it, had 4 malfunctions where the pistol short stroked. I fired another mag with some Monarch 9mm Nato. Functioned just fine and I could feel the difference in power too. |
