Looking for a new WML for a P226? This is for a nightstand/HD gun that will be used primarily indoors. Holster compatibility isn't a concern. X300 is out due to the price and I don't love the controls (I have an older one so I am familiar with them) I also have a Streamlight TRL-1 HL and its pretty decent but don't love the controls on it either. I have a TRL-7 X on a P320 Carry and I like the controls on the 7's but their output is a little weak and being a "compact" light, its a bit short for a P226. I know about the TRL-1 HL X which on paper would be almost perfect but too many reports of the head flipping open and the batteries spilling out during firing so its a no-go. So now I'm considering the TLR-7 HL-X? Spec wise its very similar to the TRL-1 HL but has the better TLR-7 controls. Its still a "compact" light but it has a bigger (longer) head so I'm thinking it may reach out closer to the end of the muzzle? Anybody here running a TLR-7 HL-X on a P226 (or any full size pistol)? I'd love to see a pic and hear how well it mounts up? I know Sig's proprietary rail can sometimes be an issue. Any other lights I should be considering? If so, which one(s) and why? |

$220 for a completely Chinese light is absolutely wild. I know you said you don’t like the controls as much but PSA seems to have a monthly rotation offering X300’s for $250 or less. I think last sale was $240. Streamlight was a champion when they were $110 a couple years ago. Now that they want $200+ for everything I just don’t see how they remain valid as they continue increasing prices into Surefire territory. I have tens of thousands of rounds through five normal TLR1’s and have never had an issue with any of them. I have an Olight that was given to me that the battery door squeaks past the hinge every few shots though. ETA: I haven’t had good luck with their optics as others have, but there are some pretty intense torture tests of the Holosun PID out there with favorable results. I went with the TRL-7 HL-X and so far I'm liking it... and BTW - I have had great success with Sig optics and their Romeo-X enclosed version is my overall favorite optic compared to anything else out. |
