I have a P-01 that went to Cajun Gun Works for their Pro-Package trigger. It has a short and crisp 3.5lb SA and a really smooth maybe 5 or 6lb DA. It also has a milled slide with an EPS Carry. I put a CZ OEM threaded barrel in it and shoot it suppressed almost exclusively (I also have a PCR which I shoot exclusively unsuppressed and used to EDC).

I've seen some reviews and discussion of the Shadow 2 Carry. It looks like a sweet gun, but it's $1300-1500. I have about the same into my P-01, so if I were to do it all over again today, maybe the Shadow 2 Carry would have been the way to go instead.

What would the Shadow 2 Carry bring to the table that I don't already have with my customized P-01?

Starting from scratch? Maybe the S2C. Although, I've heard that the stock trigger isn't all that much better than the P-01 since they both have decockers. That's a really nice P-01. Where did you get the threaded barrel from, and did you have to fit it? I'd love to get one for my P-01, but I've heard that replacement barrels sometimes need fitting on CZs.

Here's mine. I'd like to get the slide milled some day because it's a great shooter and carries well:

You can have a nice SA trigger with a decocker. In fact, the decocker itself shouldn't make a difference either way if the gun is designed correctly.

Both my PCR and P-01 have nice triggers in both SA and DA modes since CGW did their magic.  TBH though they both had creepy, gritty triggers out of the box, which is why I sent them both to CGW.

My P07 has the Omega trigger. That came with a good trigger in both SA and DA mode right out of the box.  I use the decocker with it (you can swap between the decocker and the safety with the Omega triggers).

But yeah, I get your point. I thought maybe the S2Carry had a tuned trigger.

Thanks!  I'm really enjoying shooting it.

I got the threaded barrel direct from CZ-USA back in 2019 (not cheap - $206 shipped in 2019 money, that would be $260 in today's money). I originally got it for my PCR, but ended up putting it in the P-01 when I got it.  It did require fitting. There's a little nub right over the chamber. You just file that down a little at a time, test fitting until the barrel locks in to the slide. It's really easy.  It actually works fine in both my PCR and P-01.

I've cajunized my brother's 75B and most recently his Shadow2 Compact.

Fluff and Buff on both.  Pro package on both.

On the 75B and S2C I was able to get the SA down to 2.5lbs and DA to around 5.3-5.5lbs.

The S2C was noticeably smoother out of the box than the stock 75B.  There were fewer machine marks in/on the S2C and no FPB which greatly reduced the amount hand work it needed.

So not much probably.  All things considered your P01 is pretty close to the results I got out of a modified S2C and 75B.

ETA: The stock S2C trigger was noticeably better than a stock 75B.  It was obvious there were fewer friction points in the FCG.  The slide was much smoother (and tighter) than a stock 75B as well.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the S2Carry. It's a $1300-1500 gun. If I buy a $600 P-01, send it to Cajun for trigger work and get it milled for the optic, I'm right about the same money as the S2C was off the shelf (even cheaper if you do the trigger work yourself). If the S2Carry needs a trigger job too, then what's the point of spending the extra money over the P-01?

I thought there was something about the Shadow 2 I was missing. Maybe it's just a better route for people who are afraid to mod their guns?

Oh yeah. No doubt. The box stock CZ-75 trigger is nothing to brag about (aside from the Omega), especially when new. I would expect anything in the Shadow line to be better.

But I'm not comparing stock to stock. I'm comparing the box stock Shadow 2 Carry to a Cajun trigger, installed by their gunsmiths.

It sounds to me like the Shadow 2 Carry is way over priced.

I think it depends on how you prioritize fit/finish?  The S2Compact is noticeably tighter and smoother than it's stock counterparts.  The exterior finish is much nicer on the S2C and as mentioned previously, the frame interior has obviously had additional attention paid to it.  The S2C gets you most of the way to a CGW'd pistol without the wait and shipping hassles for a pro-package install.

I always consider resale value as well; even on a gun I don't intend on selling.  The S2C is likely to command a higher price than a modified P01.

ETA:  The delta between a cajunized S2C and a stock S2C is considerably less than a stock P01/75B vs a cajunized version.  I don't know that there's a real "need" to install the pro-package on the Shadow 2 unless you are specifically looking for the reach reduction and 1lb trigger lightening.  It's pretty damn good out of the box.

IMHO, the Pro-package and fluff/buff is easy if you're somewhat mechanically inclined.  Sanding sticks/sandpaper (600-1500grits), tweezers, a few punches, needle nose pliers, dremel (optional) and patience are all that's needed.

Those are good points. Thanks.

I personally never consider resale value. If I like a gun, I like it. If it needs something, I do it. I absolutely don't care what the next guy likes or doesn't. But I realize a lot of folks would consider that foolish.

I wasn't sure how the fit and finish differed from the standard P-01. These days there is no guarantee that more expensive will mean nicer fit and finish, or any better quality for that matter.  A lot of times it's just features. Sometimes either functional, cosmetic or a combination of both.

Nothing. Unless you really like the slightly different ergonomics that allows you to get your hand a little higher on the grip.
-The Shadow Carry trigger is no better than a stock P-01, and (obviously) worse than a cajunized one.
-Your slide is already milled for the EPS Carry.

I was excited about this until I tried the trigger at my LGS. I have the same setup as you (slide milled by CZ Custom) and swap my slide between my P-01 and PCR (both cajunized). The Shadow 2 Carry is a rip-off.

I think he meant firing pin block, not decocker.

That makes more sense. Especially with the OEM trigger. I was confused about why a decocker would affect trigger feel. I thought maybe he was just talking about DA mode of the DA/SA.

That said, I can't even feel the FPB on my Cajunized CZs. Maybe those guys polished them, I don't know. Maybe they removed them, LOL.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a rip-off, but my thinking is along these lines. The Shadow 2 Compact and Carry both appear to be overhyped on YT and social media.

I'm definitely not feeling buyers remorse for going the route I went.

If I like a gun, it doesn't get sold.  I've sold/traded maybe 3 in my lifetime.

Value and value retention is just how my mind works on relatively expensive purchases.  I don't sell them, but it's always in the back of my mind.

I think the Shadow 2 Compact is worth it as it is a real Shadow 2 OR, just smaller.

The S2 Carry is really just an Optics Ready P-01. Not worth the premium they are charging.

It intrigued me enough to buy one tonight.

Nothing here will be a surprise to most, but I'll mention it anyways-

Fit and finish are significantly better than my CZ75 Omega; particularly internally.  If the trigger is any better, it must be pretty subtle.  Honestly, I was underwhelmed with the trigger on the Carry.  It did, however, check-off a couple boxes of things that drove me to obtain yet another handgun-  better apparent build quality than others I have, and being optics-ready without the need for cheesy adapter plates.

Have already installed a HS407k, which the lgs had in stock for a good price.

Was all this worth the $1770 out-the-door cost?  Probably not, but I'm hopeful that the trigger will probably smooth-out after a while.  Haven't had any luck finding a brown leather owb pancake holster for it yet.

Will probably sight it in tomorrow.

I got the Shadow 2 Carry when it was first offered.  I think it was priced at that time at just under 1k.  It's a well put together pistol with great ergo's and wonderful fit and finish.  However, the trigger was very disappointing.  Not especially heavy (though NOT light) but it had so much creep that it made accurate shots in single action more difficult than it needs to be.

I installed the Pro-Package from Cajun Custom ($300) and now the handgun performs like I expected.

Honestly, I bought the pistol because it was supposed to have a great trigger.  Compared to an off the shelf Glock, it was good, not great.  I wouldn't purchase it again knowing what I do now.  The pistol is very nice, but the trigger is designed by lawyers...

I have a EPS Carry green dot on it and its great, so the factory sights are OK at best.  They are glow in the dark sights, not tritium just FYI.  Works for me, but again, for the cost, they really should be tritium.  Most won't ever use them after bolting on a red dot so probably not a big deal, it just feels cheap to me at the price they are asking.

A fully cajunized and optic cut P01 is about as good as it gets.  Would a fully cajunized S2C be better, yeah, but not twice as good.  Not even close.

Some people more knowledgeable than me have commented that the trigger components are the same. Fit and finish is probably better on the shadow. What I really like is the way they shaped the grip. I also would like a shadow 2 compact but man its double the price of a p01. I almost sold my 99021 to buy one but decided against it.
