After temporarily losing the use of my hands three times over the past nine years: surgery in both my right and left hands and lately, a fracture in my right hand, I decided that my backup pistol needs to take this history into account. So, this afternoon I ordered a Smith and Wesson EZ 9mm. I can more easily use this pistol with a partial disability to one of my hands. I plan to buy a left-handed holster for it, too. If necessary, I’ll buy a right-handed holster for it as well. I have always practiced supporting hand shooting, but now I realize that this isn’t enough. I have decided that practicing supporting side carry and left-handed draw from a holster is important, too. Just something for y'all to ponder. |
| A few years ago I really messed up my shoulder and it crept down into my hand. Pain, weakness the whole 9 yards. I couldn’t shoot any of my semi auto pistols. Amazingly I had little trouble with a revolver. Wadcutters in a 38 were my saving grace. 2 different grip styles and very different results. |

Absolutely, I don't discount revolvers and I have a Colt Cobra which I do like. It remains a challenge to find an IWB holster for it, however (I have never found one). And I do like the capacity of a semi-auto and the ease of concealment since I carry concealed every day in a wide variety of climate conditions here in PA as well as in a variety of environments: permissive as well as....not so much. Today was my first day at the firing range with my new EZ. The project begins.  100 rounds and the new pistol ran flawlessly; very happy with the pistol. Me? Left-handed, definitely a work in progress, but I plan to stick with it. (The good news is the right hand is making steady progress. )

Had to break it in with the plastic bag thing, but it works. |
| Broke both hands in a car accident in 2002. Left hand had a splint on the pinky, right hand in a full cast. Changed my carry from 1911 to Glock 19 using the glock holster just reversed to wear on my left side. Simple solution to a over thought problem, smaller caliber easier to control and holster that didn't end up in a box when I healed up. Since then half of every training session is done with my left hand. |

Cobra is the same size as a detective special, and pretty much any maker will be able to accommodate that, or should. I bet the old school leather masters could take care of you easily. |
