I watched that video, looks pretty simple. Then I went to brownells and looked at Mainspring housings, and decided it's not worth about $50, the work of doing it, and having an extra housing laying around. I'm not a 1911 guy, every 1911 I have eventually gets sold. I just wanted one of everything I was issued in the military for a short time, and liked it enough to keep it--except for that lanyard loop. So thanks for the ideas, but it's just going to get removed. Apparently the tisas BHP clones they just pull out, thought this might be the same. |

Just press the mainspring plunger down (I use a hex socket chucked in my drill press to get better leverage) and the pin pretty much falls out. Now with the mainspring out, the pin holding the lanyard loop comes right out. |

A member gifted me a Colt new production plastic one but it didn’t fit right so ill regift it in secret santa thread. The Tisas one was held in with a roll pin which was a bear to drive out but it was easy to remove and replace the beefy metal Tisas unit. And fun. Thanks to all! |
