Just bought a Tisas DevilRay Bobtail 1911 45ACP, picked it up today and took it to the range. Factory 8 round Mecgar worked just fine and made concealability work, but my 10 round Wilson Combat mags worked just fine as well. Ran a couple of mags of 230 grain ball WInchester for accuracy and it showed good accuracy with a palm size group at 5-7-10 yards. A 21 round run of fast double taps while moving at 10-15 yards showed good combat accuracy with 13 A's, 7 C's and 1 D on a USPSA target mostly centered with a few low left. The only flaw I found to be the no checkering on the front and rear strap that made the grip feel not as good as it could be. I am going to try a little skateboard grip tape on the front and rear straps and see if that improves my grip. I do believe that this pistol is a definite keeper and will be shooting it more often. |

I've got the 9mm version; I'd never owned a 9mm 1911 so when PSA had them on sale....  It's accurate and shoots everything I feed it but it fails to lock back on empty factory mags and a Nighthawk mag about half the time, maybe 25% with a Metalform.Side note, at least on mine, the mainspring pin hole is slightly different than an actual Ed Brown housing. I ordered a 25lpi mainspring housing and it wouldn't fit without some modding that I did not want to undertake. |
